Matarrita to Dortmund?

Ok, I was able to get it sorted.

There is NO agreement with Dortmund.

There have been transfer offers but NYCFC want to buy out his full transfer rights first.

There are no meetings between the teams today. The only discussions being held are in regards to his transfer rights.

There have been offers but NYC wants to come to terms with Alajualense before accepting any
If Ala knows what offers are coming in, why would they accept lower than half the best offer for the buyout? I don;t understand NYCFCs negotiating position here at all, other than to say ok we will accept no offers and you can wait a year for your money.

Alajuelense, his former club, will be very aware of the news, as he still holds 50 percent of the player's chip and in an eventual sale, would receive a large sum of money.

I bet half of the twitter stories are Alajuelense fanning the flames to try to make this happen. Do you see anything from German sites saying he is signing with Dortmund?

In your sense, what are the odds of Matarrita staying in New York for another year or half year? Close to zero?
I'd say there's a very good chance of it. Maybe we lose him in the summer.

Question on if we buy his full transfer rights, does that additional amount then get amortized over the remaining part of his contract were he to stay?

Or could it somehow be amortized over the full part of his contract (including last season)?
I'm not sure tbh. MLS rules aren't the clearest on this situation because it's a strange one to be in.

My theories:

1) Ala might need the cash now
2) They may not want to risk his value going down
3) They might be worried about NYCFC working around it, for example selling Diskerud and Matarrita to Dortmund, Diskerud for $5 million and Matarrita for free.

NYCFC has all the power here. They have the only voting share here.

We have him on a 4 year contract. We can just keep him and let him walk if we wanted to after his contract is over.

Exactly. A player you don't want or need sells at a high price and the real trade value is free.

Spurs and Swansea did something similar a few years ago. Ben Davies had a sell on fee so Swansea included him "for free" on a deal for Michel Vorm.
I can't believe you can get away with that. I not disagreeing with you on the facts, but I just find it shocking it's possible.
