MLS is Back Tournament - 2020

This is correct. With a goal differential of -2, we cannot beat either D.C. or Montreal in a tie at 3 points. If we had scored a second goal against 10 man Miami, however...

or not given up some awful goals vs PHI and ORL... or converted some sitters in those games as well. And if my grandma had 4 wheels she’d be a wagon...

My bad. I saw the thing soup posted. Regular season tie breaker goes by wins first. So just the 8 o’clock game matters than. Let’s go Columbus.
Yeah, I think a lot of the confusion on that is my fault.

There are different tiebreakers for teams within a group vs the ranking of 3rd place teams from all groups. I had mixed those up, which had # of wins as the second tiebreaker (which if DCU/Montreal drew, we would have more points than Montreal and hold the tiebreaker of DCU).

Not saying we're good or anything, but my god Atlanta is horrific to watch. De Boer out? He's been given over a year now and it's just as bad.
Though I kinda hope they stick with it so Atlanta fans can actually suffer more for a while.......

So a Red Bulls win or a Cincinnati win by 2 or more goals will be enough for us to stay ahead of the third-place team in Group E. Basically no tie and we're in pretty good shape in this group. Then we'd need just one more group to fall in our favor.

I think a Red Bulls win is all we need, no? (or Cincy win, but that ain't happening)

La galaxy vs Houston is probably the easiest.
than Chicago losing 1-0 to Vancouver and committing some fouls.

their fans aren't happy but their ineffectiveness is definitely because they got rid of key players and josef is out. I don't think we see a true ATL until josef is back. I wouldn't say they are "just as bad". They won trophies last year. We won nada.

SKC up a goal from the start. No way RSL will win this by 3. Scratch this option off the list for advancing.

Or a Cincinnati win by a score of 1-0 would also do.

So it looks like if we do advance we either play TFC Sunday @830 or SJ Monday at 830. I know which matchup I’d prefer.

I'll take Toronto, to be honest. I'm sure the boys will be fired up against them. And if we lose? Chalk it up to "the tournament doesn't matter anyway"

So MLS being MLS there was no actual bracket to be found. So I made one myself. If we take TFC, we would have to play winner of POR/LAFC v NJRB the next round. A tasty matchup to say the least. If we get SJ, we'd have play the winner of CLB v MNU. Better chance to advance to Semis, even with how CLB is playing. Though not as interesting from a story perspective.

you're welcome.
