Everyone let's be honest... this team needs a lot and I mean A LOT!of help I don't understand why Kreis has one of our most talented players come of the bench (poku) and starts players who should never even see the soccer field! I know many of you have already said this but yesterday's performance was absolutely sickening! Oragami kwami is one of the worst players I have ever seen! This team has some building blocks but it really concerns no matter the quality of our dps that all of them are 33+ In age! I wish we could of gotten someone of giovinco caliber we definitely had the money for it! Anyways we need a roster overhaul! Rant over

What bothered me about Kwame was his lack of hustle. How many wins has he cost us this year? Definitely yesterday and Cosmos

I think this post is a little over the top with "complete overhaul" talk and whatnot.....

But Origami Kwame is effin' great.

LOL Origami Kwame.

Center back is clearly the biggest need. Hernandez is fragile, Facey is inexperienced and relies on athleticism and luck, Winger is simply NOT a CB, and so on. Mena is (hopefully) a step in the right direction.

What's our roster size right now after all the moves? Do we need to make cuts to fit Mena and/or Tefu?
I think a cut is coming for Mena's signing, but the compliance date is later next month. The bigger issue is we are maxed on International slots. The LA trade gave us enough for Mena, but not Tefu. My guess is Alvarez is on the block. Personally I'd dump Johannsen and just sign a USL goalie as backup.

Dump him? Why. Saunders is old. Loan Johansen out! We have Meara as a backup.

Is Meara back to 100%? I'm all for loaning out if possible. Otherwise, I'm unimpressed with him and think we'll need midfield cover more than a 3rd string goalie.
He is. He just missed one to two games I think. I'd rather see Velasquez or Alvarez go but doubt Alvarez leaves since him and Villa are good friends.

I'm not sure of wages or where we are against the cap, but your going to eat someone's salary here, because of the date. One benefit of Alvarez is he could retire and that would save a roster spot, free up a international slot and I believe a retiring player no longer counts against the cap. Look at Steve Caldwell and TFC.

God damn MagnusPax i want you to do my taxes. That's fucking genius.

I am starting to think more and more that there is some obscure rule that states if your parent organization loans you a player that their contract doesn't count against the cap. Johannsen, Angelino and Facey are making money. We don't know how much. But that's 3 loanees. You aren't going to loan out a loanee in Johannsen. He's staying. Meara is match fit or he wouldn't have been the back-up this weekend.

Velazquez is not an international spot. You could trade him and his small salary to a team like Columbus or Colorado for an international spot.

Saunders is not old for a keeper. Donovan Ricketts is old.

Johanssen won't be here to develop. He's here to train with older guys and see the occasional game time. Very possible that he's able to walk when his deal is up with the EDS. They have two other keepers I think ahead of him.

For better or worse we signed Johanssen, he's not here on loan like Facey and Angelino. He's a former EDS guy. Here's the original article:

Ok Maybe I'm dumb but if someone's on loan from Manchester to us aren't they being paid by the same person anyway?

Yes the ownership is the same, but the cap hit is what matters for us. If NYCFC are paying all of their salaries during the loan they might be taking up significantly more cap. I'm pretty sure teams can pay only a portion of a player's full salary while on loan, though, so I'd imagine we're paying them the bare minimum while Man City foots the rest of the bill officially (CFG is paying for both teams, though).

On a separate note, I mentioned this on another thread, but could we add Williams to the season long injury list to save cap space plus a roster spot? Last I knew (it's been a while) wasn't he dealing with possible career ending health concerns? He certainly hasn't been on the field in months.
