Almost forgot, of the four United players Deila signed, all were great prospects (three were in great form, one had shone in some breakthrough appearances) and he ruined two of them. Armstrong was always gonna be good and GMS wasn't "Celtic Good" but the other two he just wasted.

Bastard.

He took a Celtic team that was great and made them competitive.
differently put, he reduced their points total from the previous season (then did that again), signed and didn't play some good players, signed and did play Carlton Cole and lost a match to The Rangers.

Not only that. Can you imagine another team in this city hiring a new general manager (sporting director), and not making him available to the media? It's absolutely insane that David Lee has been in the job for this long and has answered a grand total of zero questions from the New York media.

If any other team tried pulling this stunt, the media in this town would have someone's head on a platter. And rightfully so.

As much as I try to give the club the benefit of the doubt, this really isn’t the way to go here from the social media team
His retort to you is ripe with the “show me one other team that reports rumors” when the club’s governing body league routinely posts rumors on the official MLS website.

This team has lost any amount of good Will the fans loyalty bestowed after their yearly gaffes.

He creates the team's most creative piece of communication in 2 months, but it's a repurposed video comparing their fans to an annoyed tween girl enduring an explanation she doesn't want from her Dad. Fuck him.

I didn't realize that guy works for the team. That's really bad. They have no idea how bad they've handled things. They think because the team wins some regular season games everything is ok. Completely out of touch with the realities they've created with their own ineptitude.

Not surprised CFG and NYCFC don’t have inherent biased training - that video would be a fireable offense for cause at my company with HR & legal being called in. Saving grace is it’s his personal account.

And this is why I took time away. This organization just finds new ways to piss me off and show they don't give 2 shits about their fans. Boro can't get here soon enough. I'm glad I'm at least no loner financially invested in this garbage. What's wrong with these people?

Yeah. They hired him 2-3 years ago for the media team. He seems to be a behind the scenes guy. He's a Man City fan from Washington DC who moved here to take this job. He also had a lot of DCU stuff in his portfolio back then; I haven't checked since.

Yeah listen, I don't particularly care what team you're a fan of when you take a job like this, it has no impact on the quality (or lack thereof) of your work. But when he's coming at fans from a holier-than-thou position when his department has caused a vast majority of the angst he's mocking fans for, that goes to a lack of judgement and understanding that is reason to believe he's pretty incapable of doing the job properly.

I knew there was a reason I waited to do my fan survey from last month. Gave me an opportunity to hit them for this guy’s post and attitude and include their radio silence.
Tweet got taken down. Was going over there to comment lol.

The tweet saying "show me a club that reports on rumors" (or whatever it was) was pretty annoying.

If it was an intentional caricature of what fans would like - that illustrates bad faith and we don't deserve that.

If that's really what he thinks fans want, then he's awfully out of touch with the community, which seems pretty on brand for the FO at this point.

I see this all the time in the context of organizational communication. People say they are afraid of giving an update if there's nothing to update. The misconception is that only new information is worthy of communication. But communication isn't just about transmitting data, it's about signaling to your audience how you regard them. If the club understood this, then a non-update becomes a way of telling your fans that you know they are impatient and concerned and that you are doing everything you can to give them something. And you explain why you can't say more.

It's possible that they are wary of saying too much because they are afraid of exposing their incompetence. I've never been a fan of that approach. I have far more confidence in people who can admit their mistakes and tell me how they are going to act differently going forward, than the people who hide and hope their mistakes won't be noticed. That ship has sailed for CFG and they'd be much better served IMO by convincing us that they've learned from past mistakes rather than pretending they've never made any.
