Is anybody watching Severance? I'm 2 episodes in and enjoying it, but wary of what the explanation is going to be for what's really going on. I just fear it's going to be stupid or annoying.

I’ve watched every episode. I enjoy it. Don’t know where it’s actually going but enjoy the writing, acting, and idea.

EDIT: And just to let you know, it's not good for young children. There are items in the show that should just be for adults or mature younger persons.

Better Call Saul: Season 6 about to premiere on AMC, and Season 5 is now on Netflix. I am only through Season 4 as I was without AMC for a long while. Looking forward to catching up fully and watching the conclusion of this great show.

It's been a long while - about 2 years since Season 5 debuted and Season 4 became available on Netflix.

Thanks for the reminder. I saw Season 5 when it aired, but it has been 2 years. Maybe I'll watch the last 4-5 episodes as a refresher.

I assume that on AMC, Better Call Saul episodes are released weekly, correct? I've just started the Season 5 episodes on Netflix and wonder if I need to wait until all of the episodes are out before I swing for an AMC subscription.

Right. AMC is just weekly broadcast. Not sure what the streaming options are for that. I am on YouTubeTV, which added AMC sometime in the last year or so. I have the show set up to record.

Anyone else watching Moon Knight? Really enjoying it so far. Oscar Isaac is very good.

Yup, you’re thrown right into the middle of it. 4 episodes in, it’s pretty wild and have no idea where it’s going but I’m entertained.

Something a little different that I’ve enjoyed too is Tokyo Vice on HBO Max.

been watching the new episodes of Atlanta, Barry, and Better Call Saul - all fantastic

side note: saw Letterkenny Live at Hulu Theater on Saturday - it was a shit-ton of fun! If you haven't watched it on Hulu, give it a whirl (it's not for everyone, though):

Pitter patter! Was there as well on Saturday, had a blast seeing them live! Highly recommend the show too.

Letterkenny

Watched with wifey for a season or two. She couldn't get into it. Too bad. I really liked it.

If you struggle with hearing (which wifey does - nearly deaf in one ear) and/or with accents (which I do) it can be a tough show to follow, especially at the speed their language and humor comes at you.

Shining Girls, on Apple TV. It's a crime drama/murder mystery/horror(ish) and creepy as @#$%! Based on The Shining Girls, by Lauren Beukes, from 2013, which I read (along with everything else she's written). The show isn't identical but it's just as good, although I don't remember all the details as it's been almost 10 years. Seen the first four episodes, out of maybe 8 or 10. Can't recommend it enough and am not saying anything more to make sure I don't give anything away.

The “Defiant Jazz” episode of Severance might be better than “Ozymandias” in Breaking Bad or “33” from BSG.

That’s extremely high praise
It's intended. I have to wait and let the recency bias subside to be sure. But "33" and "Ozymandias" excel through sustained tension that builds to a release you see coming from the start. Not in the specifics but you can reasonably expect some catharsis. Every moment in both episodes flows directly from everything that preceded it.

"Defiant Jazz" is much less predictable and linear.
  • Reghabi brains Graner
[*]The MDE scene was extraordinary and brilliant on its own and then
    • Dylan bites Milchick
    • Zach Cherry's performance the entire episode kills, and his explanation of the Overtime Contingency explodes on his co-workers
[*][*]And then things calm down and there is plot movement and you think things are progressing normally when suddenly
    [*]Burt is retiring
    [*]Christopher Walken's amazing video monologue
[*]"You smug motherfucker. You're not severed." I mean, Irving went off.
[*]“Let’s burn this place to the ground.” Oh, so that's Irving going off.
[*]Mark's dead wife is Mrs. Casey.
All of that is inevitable in retrospect, even though (except maybe for the limited plotline running through Dylan and Irving) everything mostly does not follow directly from what happened immediately before it. It was all built from assorted strands and breadcrumbs laid down over six previous episodes.

Just started watching Severance a few days ago, so thank you for using the spoiler tags!
