Same Boring Frank Lampard Thread 2.0

Anyone else concerned about his match fitness ? He's coming off a full BPL season jumping into the rest of an MLS season. Yes , he's an athlete and trains a lot but you just never know when your body is accustomed to a certain "schedule"

He won't start more than he's capable and you can count on him finishing very few full 90s. That reason alone, aside from the problems the team is already having, makes me reticent to buy into the idea that the season starts when he arrives. Something else needs to happen, and probably that something is a season of sucking ass to get the team in shape - there's no quick fix to this shitshow.

Why can't he go 90? He's gone 90 at MCFC. And really, does he even need to go 90? We always have to put Poku in late in the game, since he can't go 90. I think it's a great spot for him to be in here, once he gets here.

He's only gone 90 once for Man City and it was against Sheffield and they won 7-0 i think. Hardly a stamina breaker. Now sheffield could def compete in MLS, but Lampard won't have the talent backup or the synthesis that he had at MCFC so he's going to be working a lot harder for way less of a payoff. It's a fantastic spot for him to be in, and we're lucky to have him - I'm just saying, fans are begging for a quick fix ("start poku" "wait for frankie" "fire every RSL player"). the best thing lampard can bring is leadership & confidence. if he changes the season, that will be why.

Primary transfer window ends tonight at midnight. For the love of god, CFG/MCFC give us a gift. I don't to wait until July.

Article on Sports Illustrated's web site today has some details.

The Chelsea legend, who is spending the 2014-15 English Premier League season with Manchester City, will earn an annual base salary of $6 million according to the terms of the 1.5-year NYCFC deal he signed in January, a source with knowledge of the contract told SI.com.

Lampard’s wages will be pro-rated this season. He’ll then earn the full $6 million in 2016, as well as a marketing bonus.

NYCFC has posted a 1-6-3 recordin Lampard's absence. Coach Jason Kreis’s squad has been competitive in most games but its inability totake advantage of possession or to make plays in key moments has proven costly. There's rhythm, but not enough threat. And while there’s some skill in midfield (Ned Grabavoy, Mix Diskerud, Mehdi Ballouchy), the range, versatility and verve Lampard displayed in his prime has been lacking—not to mention the goals.

The good news for NYCFC is that MLS is quite forgiving. The expansion team still is only three points out of a playoff spot. If Lampard’s play justifies the salary, the New Yorkers should have plenty to play for this summer and fall. He’ll be available for selection (at least technically) for the first time on July 12, when NYCFC hostsToronto. A club source told SI.com that Lampard has been in regular touch with Kreis and future teammates over the past several months.

Earning $115k per WEEK.

Aside from Villa no one is earning even close to that.

He out earns Grabavoy who's played every minute in 2 weeks.

He out earns Ballouchy and Mullins who are tied for team lead in goals in 2 weeks.

What did the players get out of this contract?

A "marketing bonus"?!?! For the specific player responsible for the biggest burst of negative publicity in club history? Which is a sadly competitive competition?*

* Lying about the jersey.
Incompetently run jersey reveal party.
Lying about Frankie.
Does Mendoza now count as an embarassment?
Reneging on pledge to have 3 DPs at season start.

I was pretty annoyed that Lampard wasn't here in January, sure. And I'm not disagreeing that this generated a lot of negativity either. But, if we go 8-4-4, say, from July onwards are we still going to have to not like him?

I'm a Man City fan so I wouldn't see him play all the time, but when I'd see a Chelsea match it was just a pleasure to watch him play as he's simply that good. Sure, he's not as young as he once was but I'd take him for an hour a game over how we're playing now.

He can only make us better. A *lot* better.

Found this today: Lampard vs. Gerrard. I couldn't embed the specific start time, so just go to 4:35. This was also from 2009. And Happy Red Nose Day everyone (in the US).

His Gerrard impersonation is dead on balls.

Isn't that James Corbin? He's replaced Craig Ferguson as the host of the late late show.

You get that show in Canada? I figured it was too edgy for them.

Yep. I'm busting balls tonight. Wife wouldn't take a trip to the beach, so I'm bringing the beach attitude to the city.

Wish Barca never convinced Xavi to stay for another year. Imagine him and Villa from the start of the season. Now we are stuck with a bad record and this Lampard limbo.

Its all about having someone from the top, top level, as Jason and Reyna and Sorriano have said. Obviously, Xavi wouldn't bring that, as Barca is clearly not on the the same level as EPL clubs.

(I almost typed all of that with a straight face. And by all of that, I mean the first 2 words.) Important thing to remember in all this: fuck lampard and CFG.
