Same Boring Frank Lampard Thread 2.0

Well the article does explicitly say he will play against Montreal on July 4. I am merely guessing this is mistaken. I still haven't seen a club announcement and I think the transfer rules apply.

Now that I think about it, Lampard isn't really a transfer, is he? His contract with MCFC has expired, and we signed him as a free agent to a pre-contract.

Maybe the window doesn't apply. They'll give him a month off, he'll join up first thing in July, and go from there.

"Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed outside of the transfer window if they are unattached free agents when the window closes."

I'm pretty sure that means when the previous window closed. The idea being this is to avoid hardship. If a player gets released and not offered a new contract, and then doesn't get picked up during the transfer window, you don't want to tell him he cannot work until the next window opens even if someone wants to hire him.

Good catch. Probably means pickings are slim until July

I'm just gonna sit here and be grateful we have a football club to support and enjoy in NYC instead of bitch and moan about everything. I'll welcome Frank to NYC in July, and a third DP if we do get one. Let's Go NYC!
Been saying this for weeks. Can't like it enough. Thankfully very few people left who don't feel this way now.

How did it work out for them? Their goal was winning the Champions League and the Premier League title. Neither of the goals were met. Second place and no trophies isn't good enough for a club that spent that much money. They would have most likely finished the same exact position without Lampard, and even if they didn't, there's hardly a difference between third place and no trophies and second place and no trophies.

They spent very little money and finished second. Maybe they didn't like anyone in the transfer window last year? Their second best player, Toure, played in a World Cup and African Cup of Nations. With the way FFP is changing, it's probably good they did what they did. Now Prince Mansour can go out and offer Sterling or Cristiano whatever he wants. No restriction as long as he pays for it personally. Lampard was a one year fix for them. Now they can roll the team over and start anew.

I think this was the plan from the start. We won it with this lineup, why make changes. Made a few moves here and there mostly selling and now they can be the big dogs next season.

Hung my head in shame upon reading what I wrote. Try my hardest to login here every time solely as a level headed NYCFC supporter with the understanding a vast majority of our members support other clubs. I've failed you all.
That's it!!! You owe us (or more importantly me!!!) a beer at the next game as your penance!!!!

We're you happy with the results? Is Sterling an upgrade to Milner? They lack homegrowns for UEFA. Who else is a target?

To be fair you got it right in the second half of the post.

I'm not upset with second by any means but obviously 1st is the goal year in and year out. I think what most ARE upset about is the games we lost and how we lost them. We lost or drew a lot of our games to lesser opponents and dropped points to relegated teams. Something champions don't do.
I don't think anyone wants to see Milner go. As Pellegrini put it there isn't one player that does what Milner does. He's our most versatile player and I'd put him up there with Zaba in that after 90 minutes you know without a doubt he gave every last ounce he had in him to get a result. Right now we've been linked with a couple mids. Pogba and sterling. Could see a couple forwards leave as well as Nasri/Aleksandar but you never know what's gonna happen

Does this belong in the Lampard discussion? I don't know where else to put it--
This is why we can't have nice things. #CityFamily #CFG
And I'll go further than what I put in the tweet. I've been participating in online discussion venues for 30+ years: college discussion groups, dial-up bulletin boards, Usenet, email lists, Compuserve, Prodigy, AOL, forums, G+, Facebook, comment sections. I've discussed everything from sport to religion to art and politics. Things often got heated, and the veneer of civility barely maintained. But in all that time I have never cursed at anyone, nor has anyone cursed at me. There has been cursing to be sure, but not directed like this. I'm sure the Mad Hatter Pub is a delightful place.
This is what #cityfamily is. This is what I get because I have to share my team with MCFC fans. This is why I've blocked almost every MC fan on the forum, ( NYCFC_Dan NYCFC_Dan and @mrplow2000 being the only exceptions I remember). Well that and because they all seem to think it's their place to tell me how to be a NYCFC fan. I am so sick of it.
Oh yeah it was fun on Twitter yesterday. Besides this there was the very clever MC fan who responded 20+ times to one tweet of mine, which wasn't even directed at him. Then there was the other one who accused me of crying and when I responded that he should learn the difference between crying and mocking he blocked me. Because apparently that's beyond what he can handle. I've never seen a fanbase as simultaneously arrogant and thin-skinned and that's pretty amazing because -- New England Patriot fans exist.
Apologies for using this forum to vent over something that happened elsewhere but no apology for content.
/rant over, carry on

They spent almost 75 million to add to a squad that was already the most expensive in the league. They won no trophies, at all. I can't see how that is anything but an abject failure. If that was Chelsea's season I would be very very disappointed, along with the majority of other Chelsea fans. I think City fans probably think the same thing.

Then you must have been very disappointed last season. Only one club can win it each year. No shame in losing to the better side which Chelsea were this year. MCFC is an ongoing project. This season will be built upon and corrected.

Yes I was very disappointed. Last season wasn't a good season for Chelsea, as much as I was glad to have Jose back. Much the same as this wasn't a good season for City.

Like you said, I'm sure the problems will be corrected and City will be a bigger threat toward Chelsea next season. Doesn't make this season one that "worked out" for City.
