Did anyone else watch that McLoughlin kid and briefly adopt the perspective of Khiry Shelton, who in my thought experiment, had to be thinking, "how lucky am I to be at a club who actually tries to develop players? That guy plays circles around me."

Twellman harping on him almost turned me off, but he really looked like he could be a decent addition for some MLS team. I know he came in at 60'-ish minutes and was running at tired legs, but he just abused a guy who has been one of the better RBs in MLS this year.

He's only 24, so he absolutely could still land in MLS. I'd have no problem if he came and trained with us and we gave him a run out at some point... Vieira would be good for him.

We may not always be able to afford Wallace with the way he's playing.... and Jimmy M sure seems more skilled on the ball than Khiry - at the least he could be a good replacement for our 2nd overall pick (and cheaper).

While there was no malicious attempt to injur, it's the player's responsibility to check his surroundings before attempting a high kick like that. That should be a multiple game ban for violent conduct.

Don't count out THE Miami FC. Or FC Cincinnati. They're on a magic run. And one of them will make the semifinals. Just please New England, knock out Red Bull.

I am really excited for this one. Miami seems to be easily the better team and could probably compete with the bottom of the MLS. I'm pulling for Cincy because they are the bigger Cinderella, but I can easily see Miami plowing through the Red Bulls or the Revs in the semis and becoming the big story.

SKC is going to win this thing though.

If I'm understanding correctly (and not looking at the rules) last year (2016) 4 teams qualified based on the old rules (that will be used again in 3 years time). RB qualified under those rules. They will play in 2018 CCL.

This (2017) year and next year only 2 teams qualify. MLS Cup & USOC winners. To play in 2019 CCL.

Next year (2018) the same. However, if the a team who qualified in 2017 wins a cup in 2018, we have to assume (but I don't remember reading it anywhere) the top team is SS standings that hasn't already qualified would get that 4th spot for 2019 CCL.

I think the only thing you left out (and perhaps you implied it) is if this year's US Open Cup winner also wins MLS Cup this year.
