2016 Mls College Superdraft

Jordon Morris with a brace and Stanford win 4-0 over Clemson. Is this JoMo's last game in college? Will he turn pro? Will he go to Seattle or Europe?

Number 4 Jack Harrison was part of the NYCFC academy clubs growing up. I think we will pick him if he's available. Though we're stacked with midfielders. I'd pick Brandon Vincent, LB, Stanford.

Also Number 52 and Number 59, Jamie/James Luchini are the same person. Lehigh, won the Patriot League tournament this year thanks to a brace by this kid.

Agree I'd like Vincent

Looking at the list, Jonathan Campbell sounds like a good target for where we are picking. He's got a great last name too :D

Sounders have supposedly offered Morris the highest homegrown contract ever.

With the new Homegrown money, it makes it possible for them to splurge on him. But they also need to consider how this affects their other Homegrowns. Like RBNY, they do a terrific job of developing players through the Academy. They will spend almost their entire Homegrown budget on Morris. Is he worth it? Absolutely. But stupid MLS restricts them from maintaining other players then.

Read this morning that MLS has NOT offered Yaro a Generation Adidas deal. I don't think it's a sure thing he's coming out.

Also, Richie Laryea. We sure this kid isn't the same guy who is the Captain on Brooklyn 99?

Tough part about giving up draft picks for the players we did (two of whom are off the roster already) is that it eliminates our ability to buy cheap depth. Let's hope Connor Brandt can get healthy.

Last year, I was in favor of taking the best player available. I think we did that with Shelton. Despite his injuries, he's showed the pace that could make him an exceptional, Zardes-like, talent in this league. He just needs time and health.

This year? I don't know. It seems like the draft is deep with creative midfielders. Chances are, this is the last year for both Lampard and Pirlo. Would it be awful if we took a kid like Harrison and let him train with the first squad or play in Wilmington for the year? If he has the highest ceiling, I wouldn't necessarily be against it if he's a "sure" thing.

Otherwise, can't go wrong with a speedy attacking fullback or a CB that's ready to play right away. Especially on rookie wages.

I definitely see your point here. My guess is it depends on what PV thinks are Mix and Poku's best positions and what formation he wants to play going forward. Understand that Pirlo and Lampard create a further logjam at CM. But if PV sees Poku strictly as an AM and Mix as an 8, maybe he doesn't identify a need for a creative midfielder.

I don't watch enough college soccer to have the knowledge in order to make or have any sort of truly informed opinion, but at face value I'd go with Vincent if he's available at the #4 spot.

Theoretically, if Pirlo or Lampard (either, both?) are goners, they could be replaced by guys already on the roster. I realize soccer isn't like the other sports where you can sign guys to long term contracts and lock them up for years, but Vincent fits a position we desperately need and could be our very own Angelino type that we wouldn't have to give up any time soon.

Thats where I currently stand as well. I know nothing about these players at all, so I am strictly basing my opinion on lists such as this.

Agree that Vincent would be a terrific choice as well.
