2021 Roster Discussion

As everyone has mentioned, Taty’s hold up play is fantastic. During the New England match and earlier matches we seem to be playing out of the back a little less since his first touch off goal kicks is excellent.

I noticed this too -- his first touch in the middle to Maxi off goal kicks were beautiful.
It just compounds the excitement the versatility of this team brings.

Our entire starting defense except Tinnerholm.

F it. Play a 2-4-4 and press hard for the first 15.

Malte-Morales-Vuk-Tinnerholm

Sean Johnson and the defensive midfield will need to play their games of the season

I remember Ben Sweat played CB in the 2nd leg vs. Columbus back in 2017

yea. i just think ronny rates gray at a wing back higher than vuk at CB. so throw tinner in the middle and you have some defensive stability and experience and some attacking threat with gray on the wing. no idea how vuk looks in training but he doesn't seem to be very high on ronny's depth chart.

Yeah, but Sweat was somewhat of a LB/CB hybrid a la Tim Ream so that wasn’t too surprising. Honestly think he’s at his best defensively as a LCB than he is a LB, though I also realize that’s not saying too much.

Can't Gray play at CB? Maybe we see Amundsen-Morales-Gray-Tinnerholm

someone asked about this in a press conf before about Gray playing the CB and ronny acknowledged it was possible, but didn't seem too confident about it. said things like.. "he can play in multiple positions". I think we see him as a right wing back and tinnerholm as the CB for experience in the middle.

“Christian initially came into our U-12 group and he has developed quickly through the Academy. He is at an earlier stage of his development than our previous Academy signings and initially will continue to train and play with our U-17 team, but we are excited that he has committed to become a professional at this young age. There is a development plan in place for him over the coming years and we are looking forward to supporting his development to maximize his potential.”

And just in terms of the copy, I count 5 missing spaces.

What is everyone's take on homegrowns being projects as opposed to players who can possibly contribute this next season?
Petkovic, and Polvara both roughly 19-20 who are easily some of the best players in college (both on All American lists) could most likely provide midfield coverage vs a 14 year old who will probably play in MLS 2 until 2023-2024?

or am i just out of touch, which certainly could be the case!
