hes basically using "he's not fit" line that he has used before.
There's more to that response. I asked Ronny what he thought about Talles at either LW or Striker considering he's played a bit at both the last couple of matches, and what his fitness was at currently:
"I don't think it's the right time to start to talk about what he's bringing into the team yet because we haven't seen the best of him. He's strong [with] his body, he has a fantastic touch on the ball, he has understanding. His physique is not even close to what it should be, yet. That's why he played 10 minutes and 15. We try to get him in and to get him to get a little match time, but he's not even close to what he will be in a couple of months. We need to play him in shape when we don't train so much. It's more difficult also to train him on big spaces. So to use him now 10-15 minutes is to get him into things and also that he can create something in the last few minutes. For me, he's very talented, he hasn't played football in almost 10 months. And then he'll take the time to get back to normal level."
Does any other team consistently outlay funds for DPs that they know are "next season" projects?
We've never done it before now.
Medina had 6 goals and 7 assists in his first 24 games (G+A/90 = 0.646) while dealing with a drawn out coaching change drama. That's reasonably solid, and better than this year /90. Then he got hurt, was slow to contribute when he first returned, and then his new coach buried him on the bench. He wasn't a next season project when signed and for a young DP with a low budget charge, was quite productive off the bat.

im sure the interest is real, and i do think nycfc will sell ( they have done this before), i mean they were ready to let him go to palmeiras, its more palmeiras did not have the cash to make first payment. I dont think feyenoord will have that issue. Its more what the price will be because taty got new contract. Fee was $4M, im sure it went up but i dont think by that much.
if the deal is structured like buchanan's between the rev's and brugge, then we'd have taty for the rest of the season before he goes. so that would be no problem.
nah, Feyenoord is going to be in that UEFA conference league group stage, they want him now.
the price will have to be right for the club to let him go when we are making our final push and have no solid backup yet. heber is weeks away and looking like he won't be even close to match fitness until sometime in october if we are lucky. magno could probably play the 9, but he hasn't worked on the runs and elements taty has been working on since heber got injured. not to mention magno's fitness as well. we'd be in a slump for awhile and i wouldn't be surprised if ronny tried to play with a false 9 or stuck medina in there and hoped for the best.
I'd be very disappointed if his fee was anything less than double $4m
