2021 Roster Discussion

the price will have to be right for the club to let him go when we are making our final push and have no solid backup yet. heber is weeks away and looking like he won't be even close to match fitness until sometime in october if we are lucky. magno could probably play the 9, but he hasn't worked on the runs and elements taty has been working on since heber got injured. not to mention magno's fitness as well. we'd be in a slump for awhile and i wouldn't be surprised if ronny tried to play with a false 9 or stuck medina in there and hoped for the best.

this is nycfc FO you talking about, this type of planning doesnt really happen with them. I mean Mitri was literally our best player last year and they let him go after his best game vs miami. the FO is all about "hoping for the best". i do think the price will be higher than the reported $4M that they agreed with Palmeiras but i dont think is much higher than that. i certainly dont think $10M at all. at most those $4M+ $4M to make it total $8M or so.

I'd be very disappointed if his fee was anything less than double $4m

i dont think it will. like i mentioned above maybe a $4M + $4M if targets are met. Or they do $4M and keep a good percentage of rights for future sell on fee.

they let mitri go for personal reasons. this would be purely business. as mgarbowski said above, there's no way they let taty go right now without paying a pretty penny to essentially blow a huge hole in our playoff chances.

i dont have the trust in the FO. they will sell if the price is right ( to them), no matter effect on playoffs. they assume we are covered in the striker position with heber, thiago, talles, medina.

Yes. They let Mitri go under rather unique circumstances. The year was almost a throwaway from the start, and oddly, the fact that Heber was hurt just before the Mitri deal might have made it easier to let him go, as the club probably figured we were done anyway, so might as well be accomodating. Then against the odds we earned 2.0 PPG after they both left, which was just enough to make losing in the first round of the playoffs hurt more.

Letting Castellanos go now, this year, with our window closed, announces we are more in the business of selling players than trying to win.

Disappointed but not surprised by a probable Taty to Eredivisie move this window. Short-term (weeks) not good for the team, but in the long run its a great move for Taty and NYCFC who attract talent by earning a reputation of developing talent. I suspect we will eventually be getting as much transfer fees from his next move as we do from this move. Taty hasnt been shy about wanting to play in Europe. Feyenoord would be a great landing spot for him to play and shine.

FO already spent $8M to replace Taty with a 9. https://www.espn.com/soccer/new-yor...nt-compare-him-to-manchester-city-bound-kayky He just isnt healthy yet and needs to develop like Taty did

We are a selling club and this is the summer window. It is what it is.
Another reason not to buy Talles Magno

I have to say, if he can finish mike he did on Saturday, he’s worth every bit of $10 million.
