Some version of this remains possible. I still think that the NYCFC 2.0 starts once the stadium is announced/opened, and we remain in a holding pattern acquisition strategy until then.
I agree with this. I don't think this club drops much money at all during the winter window. Without fans in the stadium they aren't generating nearly the revenue they did pre-pandemic. CFG isn't just going to flush money down the drain. They're going to bring in some young South or Central American players that they can eventually move on to Europe for a profit. Acevedo is a perfect example. The transfer fee was $2.5 million and I'm sure his salary is very low. If they can keep him here and he shows promise, maybe they sell him after the 2021 season for $4 million and make a small profit.
