Hopefully sands will be very motivated to go and prove himself after what can be viewed as a less than successful first foray into Europe .

If you were the intern you'd have waited until today to do your bet though. ;)
I already gave you all signings till the end of the year even though I didn’t believe that statement (why I formatted it that way yesterday). I’m just happy to bring a friend a deli sandwich at our new stadium. But yeah I’m not really the intern.

not sure if this is from that interview he did... but more confirmation:

I looked and can't find this anywhere. Maybe it's something Judas picked up in a podcast and told Crooks, but Ariel himself didn't tweet it. Rumors are definitely flying, though. Everyone in the know seems to think it's a done deal and it's just a paperwork issue now.

If this comes off, we'll be in really good shape.

The parallels with Arsenal from the start of last season just astound me. Except we seem to be going a lot quicker. So, I'm going to go ahead and say it: Trust the process.

Santi posted on IG being at the airport. Just need a 🏴‍☠ striker and some backups and we’re on our way to a second MLS Cup
Getting James and Santi back is huge! I cannot overstate that. And getting a striker would be a huge deal too. But I still think a left-footed center back is a necessity. Chanot was not himself against Nashville, and I do think a big part of that was due to playing on the left. Obviously, Alfaro is there if need be. But given his history, he's not much more than a traffic cone.

I'm extremely optimistic given these recent acquisitions. And I think we've gone from a decent playoff team to a bona fide contender on these moves alone. However, a striker and an LCB are a must imo

It's amazing how in one day we went to a point where this team is one or two signings away from being right back to where we were. What a difference a day makes.
Tbh, I think this team is in a spot where they can win based on these two signings alone, and have a decent shot at it to boot. I do, however, think that a bona fide starter-ready LCB puts this team over the edge and gives them that late-2021, early-2022 dominance we saw before Ronny and Taty left for greener pastures.

Our next three games are at Chicago, vs Miami, vs D.C. United. All three of those games are very winnable. I do still think we're a striker away from being an elite MLS team, but we should still do very well in our next three games.

Agreed. If we come away with a draw against Chicago, I'm fine with that also. I think anything less than a home opening win against Miami would be awful, especially considering the arrivals of Santi and Sands.

The rumor is that Santi won't be a DP, but obviously that could be wrong.

I do think we have the salary cap space for him as a TAM player; we really should have plenty of space after all the departures.
One thing to keep in mind is what kind of transfer fee we have to pay to Torque to acquire the rights to Santi. That could push him into DP territory even if his salary is below the maximum for TAM players.

I agree with needing a striker. Magno struggled once Taty left and attacking lineups of various combinations of Magno/Gabby/Thiago/Santi struggled when Maxi was hurt last year and not pulling the strings. Getting Sands back with his line-breaking passing and a full-strength Parks should help cover some of what Maxi used to provide in midfield. A proper striker that can hold up play and score with some consistency would really help solidify the attack and provide the space for Magno that he needs outside to thrive. All this depends on the decision-makers giving up on their Magno is a CF plan and unfortunately, I have a feeling they are not ready to do that yet.

Getting a striker is a must on this team. It's clear to me that Talles works best on the wing where he can work the ball into space. With the additions of Sands and Santi, we are very close to being a team that can compete for a top 3 spot in the conference. It would be waste to plug Talles into the CF spot where he doesn't belong.

They've got to have something in the works for a striker. I can't see them trading away Heber without already working on a replacement.

I guess the question to me is, how willing is the club to wait until the summer? Can't imagine going through the spring dropping points because we don't have anyone for that position.
