Guess the ref assignment could be worse, NYCFC didn’t get the team from St Kitts and Nevis. (Montreal got them.)
While going down the list I saw the US crew and it has Maruffo and Ted Unkel. And then I remembered how much bad refereeing we are soon to be a part of as the MLS season starts.

to be fair, there's a whole lot of bad refereeing going around in every league in the world right now.
my bigger worry is whether our guys will be mentally and physically prepared for this game. we haven't had a chance to watch them in the later pre-season matches and we have had no reports as to injuries or how things went. did our starting XI get a chance to truly play together? i get that we have a lot of returning players, but they still need to regain their rhythm and they all need to be match fit. we may be the more skilled team in this game, but if we are out hustled, it will be a tough match.

Barely related but this got me thinking, is the new CBA in effect yet? Are we chartering down to CR?
I don't remember hearing that it was ratified yet so I'm not sure.
I suspect the league rules limiting charters do not apply to non-league games.

The new CBA says you must charter to international CCL games.
I suspect that if it's been approved but not officially ratified, teams would still abide by the new deal.
does any one really do this in preseason in MLS though? LAFC had a press conference but that was at their own training center though, not in camp away.

hes not bad, not many huge issues IIRC from liga mx. i think he got shit in the liga mx final for not fully using VAR. which i dont even think is available here in CCL.
