DC Postmatch

From the replay, the positioning of the player looked like Mata sent the pass back.
That was my reasoning as well. I can see and identify Pirlo, Wallace and Callens on that side. He's the last possibility.

Christ All Mighty Kjbert and ktdNYCFC REALLY ??!! Why don't you both and all the other haters just get one of those long range rifles and do the man in ? And it's the general consensuses of this forum that I Pose The Threat to him ? This Jury Better review these documented testimonials !

And for the last time His take home pay is 2.5 Million per year ! That's what all the papers, TV,and magazines and on line story's quoted when he came over as to what he would be paid ! I'm sure that half of his pay goes to rent for that Manhattan town house . That I still have No Idea where it exactly is ? Thank you very much !

But why do I have this awful feeling that some of you know where it is ? When you plan to go and confront him and say how much He Sucks ! His passes and corners and free kicks are lame ! And he's the worst singing ever ! Oh and my Favorite Today He Doesn't Do Anything World Class Anymore !!

I'm not his Threat !! But the people who he Gave Up Everything for to come play for are ! TRUTH !

His Union published that he makes $6 million.

You know who else used to be good? Pele. Should we sign him too?

I honestly appreciate Vieiras attempt to replace white with brilliant by changing formation. However it was clear in the first five minutes that wasn't working. He could have switched out of it at any time, but stubbornness cost us three points.
I got to suffer the managers of both my clubs trying crazy shit yesterday. One changed earlier than the other and rescued a win. Alas, that was not to be for NYC.

This to me was the big problem with our offense. They conceded the wings and clogged the middle, and we took the outside space and lobbed crosses in for guys that are 5-9 and shorter and surrounded by defenders. It was a low percentage play (very low) and it never hit. Note that the goal was scored on a pass from the edge of the box that was on the ground.

I don't mind the coach switching things around early in the year to see how different strategies play out. Now, if we see this again with no improvement, everyone should be pissed.

Kind of agree with this (and also pretty strongly disagree with the "Pirlo sucks" crowd). Because we weren't doing so well with direct play, all game long Pirlo was time after time lobbing these beautiful long passes to the wings that landed practically on their shoe laces. Unfortunately not much ever happened as we couldn't get the ball into any dangerous territory after that. Can't see how you could blame this game on Pirlo as he did his job. We often dominate on offense but not this time. We don't really have a Zabeleta on the overlap to pass inside nor do we have a Kompany to receive those passes, but hey, funny how when McNamara came on the field that's pretty much exactly what happened and we scored our only goal.

And hey, now I've surely managed to get *everyone* mad at me!

Yea but Seth that assumes that no other player in the world could make those passes. That's simply not true.

Pirlo has become Steven Gerrard for us. How do you bench a legend?

No, I'm not saying *only* Pirlo could make those passes, I'm saying that Pirlo *does* make those passes all day long almost all of them with pinpoint accuracy. I'd be fine with someone 10 years younger in that role but I truly doubt you could find someone who could do what Pirlo does. That's certainly not to say there are no other midfielders in the world that we should consider. He's not the captain of our team but he's certainly the captain of the offense. He's often starting the play back in our half and then making a key pass into space in the attacking half. It's what he does, all the time.

I'm totally OK finding someone who can drive the midfield once Pirlo retires at the end of the season. Can't see benching the driving force of our offense though.

It's not so much Pirlo's offensive output, it's his Defensive issues and need to cover for him. Pirlo was lazy in our back third with some very slow passes and non-interested marking. Plus, playing 3 in the back required Ring to drop deeper thus nullifying his normal usefulness and charges forward.

I really like Pirlo, but we're one-dimensional with him; his passes to the corners were beautiful, but they didn't help us because crossing isn't what we're designed to do - we needed pinpoint throughball passes, and Pirlo isn't adept at that. And on a larger field, he can't cover space the way he can at YS.

Mata and Jack had good days today. Villa was good, but DC played him well and forced him away from the middle a lot making him a little less effective. There were a few unlucky touches and missed chances that could have been goals on different days of the week, but we really didn't get very close to goal until the last half hour.

Theme of the day was "Dance with the girl you brought". Baffling to think we'd switch up a lineup that has more or less dominated the last 3 games. Brillant had a very poor game, and you could tell it was his first game all season. The missed backpass and losing Acosta behind him on the second goal were inexcusable. He just doesn't fit this team.

I think we'll still be a top-3 team, but we saw what inconsistent lineups got us with Kreis. Let the back line form and mold together and let the offense take care of itself. Still baffles me.

Seth - tell me exactly what it is that Pirlo "does" out there right now.

I've seen us play with and without him this season. I can't believe I'm saying this, but we're a better team with McNamara on the field than Pirlo. That shocks and disappoints me but that's true.

Pirlo played a lazy game yesterday. And that hurt us.

Was Villa injured or something? Just didn't see the usual hustle from him yesterday. Guy still gets a goal though, because David Villa. Anyway, feel like the front three did a poorer job of defending, which put us under pressure.

When the team as a whole plays badly, Pirlo looks disproportionately worse just because his role is so unusual. It looks undeniably dreadful to see opposition midfields hurtling past him while he stands there, but it's not his job to stop that - something else has gone wrong somewhere elsewhere in the team to expose him like that. That said, his setpieces and crosses are driving me nuts.

Thought Maxi and Chanot were both excellent. Brillant continues to be garbage, although I'm not sure anyone's surprised by that.

Away support yesterday was absolutely phenomenal. A real pleasure to be part of it.
