Kamara to NYCFC?

Columbus will struggle to score this year. Their entire attack is based off of the ability to play the ball into Kamara.

It will be interesting to see how Kamara and Lee Nguyen partner.
LN is their leader and PK taker (if I'm not mistaken). It could very well be the same situation KK left where he may not always see eye to eye with the playmaker. Granted, NE has a more in-your-face coach so problems will be squashed quickly.

Even though this was talked about, I must admit I'm surprised Columbus traded him away. Can't imagine it has to be based on the "incident". Sad state of affairs if it was. They must have or be close to better international signing in the Summer.

I understand the benefit of grabbing a guy like Kamara when you have the chance. Still, New England is going to have to rethink how it plays in order to make this work. So far this year, they've been playing a 4-2-3-1. So, even with Davies and Agudelo on the team (along with Teal Bunbury and Femi Hollinger-Janzen), they've been employing a lone striker. They've started 3-4 different guys in that spot over the course of the season.

Now, they add a DP in Kamara. Do they stick with the current formation and sit all the other strikers? Do they change formations and deal with an adjustment period? Bunbury is a guy they can move back to MF, but Davies and Agudelo are strikers.

Decisions, decisions...

This. Just like Drogba they'll need a long adjustment period.

Oh. What's that you say? Drogba made immediate, dramatic and lasting impact? Oh crap.
Drogba is different. He doesn't need anybody else to be able to score goals. So many times with Chelsea, he'd receive a pass at midfield on the counter and just bulldog his way through the two CBs to the box for his shot. He also scores a ton of free kicks. He's just a ridiculous specimen of brute force and subtle technique which is why so few MLS center backs have a chance against him.

KK is different in that he really thrives on the crosses that Meram & Finlay provide - I don't believe he can freelance as well as Drogba. It'll come down to how well NE can serve him from the wings.

I think that is a fair distinction. Tierney at NE is generally a great provider of service from the wings, at least based on what I've seen.

"As for what the Revs have incoming, and Kamara is quite honestly a perfect fit. New England are second in crosses from open play this season, but only sixth place in successful crosses. A few weeks back they banged 40 into the box against the Timbers -- an unusually high number, but not an outlier."

But are they quality crosses? NYC has a ridiculous number of shots that register as a shot for the purpose of stats, but we all know they're really weak-ass drives at the keeper or skied towards the upper deck.

But are they quality crosses?
No idea. But if Kamara puts them in they'll look awesome. The point is they won't need to change what they're doing to start feeding him. If they're just not good at it then this is a bad trade, but it shouldn't involve much of a learning curve wither way.

Columbus Dispatch is reporting 500k combined GAM/TAM and 1st round 2017 and 2nd round 2018 pick in the SuperDraft, an international roster spot, and a sellon clause.

Sounds like Columbus got the better end of the deal

Columbus probably got the better end of the deal from 2017 on but this year they literally only have Conor Casey and Ola Kamara (no relation.) Unless someone on their team starts scoring before they get the opportunity to add guys in July their season may be over already

Yeah but at the same time NE is a cheap team that doesn't really use their TAM or GAM so what was it to them. Goncalves is their only DP and he doesn't make more that 500k.
That makes me wonder. For the cheap teams out there who aren't using their GAM/TAM anyway, can they sell it? If so, why isn't CFG offering straight up cash for GAM? Let's buy us some money.

When Chris Tierney is healthy he is one of the very best crossers in the league. Lee Nguyen is spot on. Kamara is going to be scoring goals for the Revs. They just got much stronger but Crew just got much weaker -- its a wash for us in the Eastern Conference this season.
