Mcfc Confirms Lampard Staying In Manchester For The Season

The SSS is just a dream right now. We have zero idea if it's a reality or if it's all talk, and I'd bet it's closer to "all talk".

The academy affiliates are a start, but I'd imagine there's a good bit of a scouting network being set up for Manchester locally. And that's not something you can put on a billboard, to be frank.
You have a point but like I said the best the thing the team can do is tell Lampard fuck off and get New DPs. Get the German and mix and/or Bedoya

As one BigSoccer poster questions whether this is "MLS's worst PR disaster ever" or not I wonder to myself, "What did happen at MLS HQ leading up to all this?"

Did Manchester promise them not to do this when they bought the team but are now essentially asking MLS, "What are you going to do about it?"

Did they promise MLS all sorts of sweet things later on in return for this? If that's the case, its still kind of dumb as we the fans don't know about this and are left twisting in the wind until it is revealed -- which could be a long time, if ever.

Its all very bizarre. Why would MLS let them say they've signed Frank Lampard, when they didn't?

Methinks there may well have been some paperwork shifting. As in NYCFC was told to lose a few papers here and there. No idea. Just making it up at this point, just like they are.

Anyway, I'm off to try to drink my way to a more profitable new year. Dinner at Swine (try it, really good place) with my smoking hot wife who is 10 years younger than me and has all her teeth. Get loaded, come home and commiserate with you fuckers so @MikeDatTiger can continue feeling this sense of community.

They should do us a solid and just take him off our hands completely. If he wants to stay so much then just buy him so he isn't taking up one of our DP spots. We shouldn't have to sacrifice one of those slots for someone that isn't committed to being a part of this club from matchday one.

Good news: He was never actually a NYCFC player. No really, the whole NYCFC signed Frank Lampard thing really was a lie. He was signed by MCFC and they were going to loan him to NYCFC but he did so well he's now staying in MCFC.

Bad news: They're still talking about giving him to us after their season is over...

I am just concerned with the fact that they will get first choice to any of our players if they want them, any time they need them. Can we not ever get MC quality players without them being snatched away?

Holy shit. Ignorant fuck. That's just one fan though. There are plenty of morons on this focum too.

You're really missing the point aren't you? It's not the loss of the player. Fuck Frank Lampard. It's what this says about our club and ownership.

Nope, the only thing it says about are those pussies running away because they are concerned what people will think about them and their new club. There is a name for such over here in Europe - plastics. Real fans stay with their club through everything, if Man City fans cared what other clubs fans thought about them back when they were in 3rd league and now when they're champions they'd leave 20 years ago. I understand that you might be pissed about this, I'd be probably if situation is opposite but to see people saying they won't support NYCFC because of this is bordering with circus, lol.

Bad analogy because I feel that most City fans are "plastic" and weren't around 20 years ago in league 3.

There are way, way more important things as a club than just winning games.

Integrity. Loyalty. Passion.

Those are three things that City doesn't have, and it's clear that they're passing that on to the New York franchise.

Well, speaking about loyalty I've seen several crybabies tonight saying they won't support NYCFC before it played it's first game. Some loyalty that, lol.

Almost as bad as stealing their best player away despite claiming several times that you wouldn't do that....

Clearly the NYCFC source in ESPN's article on this is someone within the organization and pretty high up because:

An NYCFC source confirmed earlier reports to ESPN FC that Lampard's current contract is with Man City and not New York. The source added that the former England international's current deal would see him stay with the Citizens until the end of their current season.

...

Could Lampard be made available before then? The source indicated it was possible, but unlikely given the high regard that Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has for the former Chelsea man.

....

The source declined to elaborate on why NYCFC announced Lampard's signing last year when he was technically a Manchester City player. However, it was stressed that once Lampard's current deal with Manchester City ends, that will signify the end of that relationship and that Lampard will be an NYCFC player from that day forward.

Some are saying "well, as long as it's a one time thing, it's fine". Let's review

1. Club bursts into the MLS with not even a crest, just a website with a news feed of Man City events
2. Promises that a SSS in NYC is a first priority but makes no progress after almost 2 years,
3. Signs a DP to NYC who mocked Americans on 9/11
4. Reveal home kit that is a carbon copy of the parent team
5. Apparently lied to us about the terms of the Lampard deal
6. To be continued.

Will you guys relent that this organization only cares about money and NYC as a marketing tool when the SSS ends up being somewhere in Westchester? The forum outrage over Lampard won't change anything, they money involved is too large and Garber's obsession with NYC2 too great. The important lesson from this snafu is that supporting foreign teams instead of local ones hurts the local teams in subtle ways that you don't notice until you finally find something that is your own and that you want to be part of, and only then get to see it pushed around by the bags of money.
