“He’s gifted,” said a source with the team. “He’s already, at 21, a special player. That much is clear. Where he must improve is his tactical understanding. Knowing defensive shape, tracking runners, tucking in and knowing where and how to support.”
Those are all areas where a player can improve with experience. The good news is that Lewis has the intangibles, the qualities that players either have or they don’t.
“What you can’t teach, he does well,” said the source. “He’s creative and impactful, a special player that way. What you can teach, what comes about from hard work, is where he needs to improve. From a player-development point of view, that can be exciting if he is dedicated and puts in the hard work needed to improve and get better.”
