Nycfc Needs To Stop Putting Up Those Fake Supporter Banners

People care because there's a internet theory that says the Third Rail is just a front for the club. And this gives that credence.

On a more realistic scale, it sucks that Third Rail is being so slack in support that the club is doing it for them. Support at every match, even in Manchester is Third Rail's job, not NYCFC's.
 
How fucking hard is it for them to reach out to the third rail or Brown Bag Social Club or any other support group and have them put together a design? If they want to pay for banners have an actual supporters group design it. None of them would turn down that opportunity. They were so close to nailing this one out of the park....

Well that's an easy one he just flew in yesterday and had zero time with the club. Kries wasn't going to take away playing time and an opportunity for some of the guys who were there in camp to prove themselves.
 
I know where he was and why he wasn't playing, Gentlemen. Someone in this thread did not. But they're mad about banners.
 
An interesting take from user ewest (a Timbers fan) on Reddit:
It doesn't really bug me because let's be honest, much of our league, including and most glaringly NYCFC right now, is basically artificial. I don't mean that to sound denigrating, it's just simply how it is. It's a young league with young franchises--we haven't been playing for 120 years and our rivalries aren't played along pseudo-tribal, intensely political socioeconomic divisions. We're supporting personalities, shirts, and cities.

NYCFC, like other clubs, was made out of thin air because there was a market to be opened up, so it's to be expected that stuff like this will turn up. It's going to induce some cringes along the way, but if they're going to have any supporter culture at all these first few years it's going to have to come from somewhere.

I've been vocal about how much I hate the fake supporters banners since they were used at the jersey reveal (especially when one was referencing a non-existent supporter's club in my hometown of Astoria), but I do agree with this Reddit post. Our SG(s) aren't doing much at the moment and I think it's fine that the club itself want to beef up the atmosphere until the NYCFC supporters culture develops.

My only big complaint at the moment is calling out specific states (NJ), boroughs (Brooklyn), towns (Astoria), and even countries (Honduras) in these banners. By all means, keep the "There's Only One David Villa" and "I [heart] NYCFC" banners up at the Stadium at every game!
