Orlando (Away) - Postmatch

The cricket Oval is in Kennington, not Kensington. Shit town, but I used to live there.

Isn’t Kensington where the rich people live? And that Tube stop near Stamford Bridge?

What has HE accomplished?

I think being on Pep's staff means he's part of those trophies. You're not just a hanger-on when you're an assistant coach at a place like that. I would certainly give him the benefit of the doubt there. He's not the final decision-maker, but he was definitely a decision-maker. It would be very unfair to insinuate that he wasn't a part of those trophies.

Totally disjointed today with no rhythm or care for possession.
Love me some Ring but if he is going to mauraud forward all season expect to give up 15 or so more goals this year.
I feel like Dome may be giving the young fellas Sands and Lewis heavy early season minutes so when they are inevitably moved down the pecking order he can say that he gave them a chance.
Tojouri has to be in this game at some point.
Medina is not a DP, end of story.
Mitri has the talent but as someone else said he looks the frustrated type. Villa got away with it because you know, it's Villa...
Thank goodness none of this matters because this is MLS and you can't pull hairs until Sept/Oct really.
Having Mitri is like having Villa last season. Someone who plays hard and tries to score but really has no help up top or any help in creating chances. We have no supporting players. And we are the real life Smurfs all these guys are tiny.

Doesn’t Pep have a guy on staff who was an Olympic swimmer?

See my point?

Yes. That’s why if I tell people I lived in Kennington and say it real fast they make the mistake and assume Kensington. All the sudden I’m posh :)

Can the man shave? geeezus he looks like he's at MD34 even though the season just started.

As for the tactics, based on that little interview you can see he definitely shifted tactics for this one match where he says "because we played them 10 days ago." whether that's good or bad, I guess we'll find out later...

Domemeter continues to drop

Wait his excuse is that we played them 10 days ago? That’s even worse.

He’s like the Tinker Man, minus all the success.

Given that we are likely to have to live with Dome-ball for the foreseeable future, beacause in perspective, this was an away draw to a much improved team that beat us a week ago and knocked in 6 against New England recently, a serious question...

If SJ doesn’t blow that FK or Sands/Chanot picks up Dwyer, we win this match. So if that happened, or started to happen more often, and we start winning ugly, is anyone happy with this kind of football? I don't think it’s likely, but interested in the pulse check of the board.

On a separate note. I don't think he is unfireable. If the losing or even mediocrity continues consistently they will find a face-saving way to ease him out, like “family” or “health” reasons.

To start, if you go with counterfactuals, there was the missed handball so I'm not sure it's fair to pick out one odd bad event to flip the result favorably, but taking your question as it is:
Winning solves almost everything, and if we win ugly I will be happy, but I will still be annoyed that the entire project to date has been built on lies. As I said above: "To play this way regularly makes a mockery of the CFG way and any pretense that we have continuity among teams and interchangeability among coaches and players. It also makes the hire of Torrent seem preposterous from the outset, because it puts the lie to him being Pep Prime in anyway whatsoever."

That said, again, and to be clear, I would rather win and negate everything the team was supposedly built on, than lose and remain devoted to a failing set of principles.

You miscreants criticizing Domè clearly don't know about soccer. The fact that we went from a cup contender when he came in to barely crawling into the playoffs was not his fault. He hasn't had time to put his system in place. He needs the entire season. We should wait until the team misses out on the playoffs before judging if he has a clue. Coming away with the idea that he's clueless after a half season an offseason a preseason and a transfer window means you clearly don't have Barça DNA. You couldn't have been Peps friend and assistant and doing Pep a favor wouldn't have been the main reason for your hire. That also wouldn't be the reason why the club wouldn't fire you if you ruined the team. The stats are wrong. The losses and points dropped don't count anyway if we had the higher possession percentages. Don't trust your eyes and facts. Trust Domè.

If not for the questions I got wrong, I got a 1600 on the SAT.

Two moments of brilliance sandwiched around 88 minutes of unwatchable soccer is not sustainable for the season. The team may have eeked out a win with the luck you mentioned, but they’d end up losing the majority over the course of the season playing like that.

The funny thing is, when Orlando scored, I wasn’t upset, but more relieved because a win playing that horribly would have just brought Dome’s defenders out of the woodwork trumpeting his genius while failing to see this disaster is peak-Dome.

Anyone going to mention how Maxi still has finishing issues? How many times has he been 1v1 with the keeper and not scored? He did it yesterday when we could have been up 3-0 and he did it a ton last season too.

I kept think that if Lewis had been the advanced player, the defender never would have caught him thus forcing such an early shot.
