Running Streaming Movies/TV Thread

I read all the books, but I haven't seen either movie. I can see his force of personality making it work, but it's a departure for sure.
Tom pulls off most action hero stunts and effects just fine, and he can pretend to be about 5'11". I enjoyed the first Reacher movie (haven't seen #2). But he can't embody a fundamental element of the Reacher character. Reacher is big.

The funny part is seeing this actor play reacher.. who is generally pretty stoic and simple and intelligent when he used to play an idiot college football player on blue mountain state. Also a ridiculous but funny show if it's your kind of humor.. not for everyone
Loved that show. Party at the Goat House!

Not usually one for actor interviews, but I found this interesting. Spoilers for season two (and book two).

Anyone watching Wheel of Time? Season 2 feels a lot stronger than Season 1 (I'm midway through).
Just finished season 1. Thanks for the rec. Not sure how I'll feel waiting a decade for them to finish this. Hopefully each year will be worth the wait. So far I enjoyed it quite a bit. Not sure if that is because it's a good show or because of how much I already know and understand the world. Either way, thanks again for pointing it out. On to season 2.

Signed up for BritBox about a month ago, currently watching Vera. Thoroughly enjoying it.

We’re considering canceling Prime but the “what about the one season of Wheel of Time I’ll miss every three years” counter argument is strong

Me watching the final episode of another season of True Detective.

So I've heard. But I'm curious, in your opinion, is it better/worse, or just different.
Season 2 is the best. Season 1 is consistent. Season 3 has peak episodes as great as season 2, but is erratic - sometimes to the good, sometimes to unease. However, the overall theme of season 3 is unease which may be off putting to some.

Season 1 = A-
Season 2 = A (or A+)
Season 3 = B+ (with bursts of A)

Halfway through season 3 right now. I will say this, the creators of this show unquestionably know how to build an emotional experience for the watcher. If you don’t like the feeling they want you to have, then yes, this is a tough show to watch. If you love the cinematic effect of being taken for a ride, buckle up and enjoy. Personally I love it.

Different and slightly worse. It's less about what it used to be. A lot more artistic scenes with food that are just flashbacks with real chefs.

Finished Shogun last night. I'm a little ambivalent about the final episode, but overall it's really good. Just in case anyone wasn't convinced by all the Emmys and was waiting for the opinion of an internet friend/stranger.

Hulu did a thorough job of ruining the end of episode of 9 but maybe I'll save that for the vent thread. That's a tech platforms making things worse problem, not a problem with the episode

I have 3 episodes left and agree with your opinion. Anything I can do to avoid the episode 9 problem?
