Can see Shradi eclipsing Harrison very shortly.
He already has if you ask me. When Jack beat a guy, you knew he was taking him on, and then you knew he had beaten him. Isi is beating guys before they realize they’ve been taken on. It’s almost effortless. He’s brimming with confidence now.
He and Medina humming could make things really fun when Villa is back.
Medina is a great example of why there is no substitute for playing professional games. He’s been a pro since 15, so he’s an old head out there. An old head with young legs. He has some sort of ceiling. On his cross, he showed that Salah-like (had to get that in) quality of maintaining poise and making the game go into some Matrix-y like sequence where he is just dodging slow motion bullets.
Ofori has a lot of skill on the ball. I’d be happy to see him in alongside Ring in certain situations, be they rotational or tactical. I think he sees the game well and made several good decisions to put us in advantageous attacking situations. Sadly, they usually died with Berget.
I was not displeased with Berget after NER. I am concerned, a bit, at this point. The thing is, he does get himself into good spaces. Somehow, he was splitting the CBs almost at will in the first half. But that’s just not our game.
If you watch his Malmo highlights, the chest control attempt shouldn’t have been a surprise. IIRC, he often scored with a lot of unconventional touches. The thing is, while that league’s defenders might be more tactically astute, they probably aren’t quite as quick and athletic and therefore less quick to recover. Your assessment of him digging himself a confidence hole feels right. He needs to get a goal in the worst way.
Tinny is the best. He speaks like a guy who’s already comfortable in the locker room, and he looks like another potential captain. Not even upset he stole my line from the shoutbox. I said Sweden would win the World Cup with Zlatan and Tinny scoring screamers every match. And now I’m scaring myself thinking about him actually making that roster based on how well he’s performing.
I think Chanot is only just now starting to close in on his old form. It makes sense when you consider how little real match time he’s had in the last 8-10(?) months. Tons of injury time, then a red. He should be back to full form in time to ding himself up in a meaningless Lichtenstein camp.
Lots of good stuff from yesterday that we can all feel positive about. Going 6 ATB for 20 minutes isn’t one of them.
