I don’t know why this is a thing, but it’s beautiful...
What’s crazy is that both of his goals were absolute rockets off the crossbar.
This goal was all TMac, humming this tune in his head and watching on .
What’s crazier is that both times he called crossbar.
The five yellows were a bit ridiculous consider is was a feisty game by both teams and San Jose only picked up one yellow card. That being said I’ll continue to defended that Maxi’s yellow card is stupid and should be rescinded. ThrowInGate is allowed. I was watching that and thinking of Man City when they closed out the game at Man United. Did everything right there. Then Maxi takes the ball and rolls it to the top of the 18 box. He gets a yellow card for time wasting at the referee adds an additional minute. Childish refereeing.
What makes me laugh is at the warmups for the game against Montreal he skied every single shot he took 10 yards over goal. Glad preseason doesn’t matter.
I’m all about wasting time in possession and taking it to the corner and forcing throwins. I can’t stand when players waste time on free kicks and throw ins. You KNOW for a fact it’ll add more time. It almost cost us the game. SJ has an extra minute of possession in our own half. I was totally fine with the cards. Hate that part of the game.
I still don’t understand what the Fck happened with throwin-gate. I get it that their hari-Krishna Swede was angry about having to throw it back to NYCFC, but he didn’t, he threw it to a teammate who dicked around with it, wasting time, before rolling it out farther down the touchline. A bit unorthodox, but he finally realized the etiquette of the situation. But then Twellman starts railing on the situation, and I can’t figure out which team he thinks was wrong, and their Swede kept jawing off at Johnson. Johnson was an idiot for playing the ball out so close, but maybe he figured it’d be more obvious his intent doing it that way rather than booming it and they think it was just a shank. Didn’t wondo also get in on it?
At any rate, baffling exchange that almost came to blows.
Losing count of the number of times my kid and I have yelled out TinnerBoom today while playing soccer in the basement. It may have replaced “that is not a goal, that is a goaaallaaazzzzoooo”.
There's definitely a price to be paid for our squad featuring so many good internationals.
OK, I'm convinced, and I'm ready to give him another couple of games.
If Berget just heads it instead of foolishly trapping it with his chest we’re praising him and the FO for finally getting us an aerial threat. I’m not worried about him- yet.
I said in the offseason Tajouri was brought in to be a starter (eventually). Fate has caused him to see more of the field than anticipated early on but he's made the most of it.
The Berget move seemed like a panic move from the get go. The way our front 3 play, there's no need for a #9 or target man. He's also not fully fit or in form. Still a head scratcher.
Someone in the front office is probably breathing a deep sigh of relief on losing out on Ofori last year. He's playing out of position and being asked to do a job he's not comfortable with. Its interesting that PV hasn't moved Herrera deeper as a destroyer. He has the build for it, but probably not the IQ. Those of you calling for Sands for Ofori - I agree that Ofori hasn't earned the position but it's a like for like switch. Not sure Sands brings anything that Ofori doesnt right now. I hope this makes everyone realize that Ring is the true MVP of this team and the guy that makes everything happen. It's rare to find a guy who can blow up a play and then start the counter himself. Those guys are rare in soccer. Even rarer in MLS.
