Thoughts On Mix Not Being Called?

I think it's a bit odd. It's not like he's played bad. In fact he's been one of the top mids so far this season as far as passes made/completed and so on.
Great for the team but I wonder what Mix is feeling right now.

Great for the team but I wonder what Mix is feeling right now.
I wonder if it's fitness. He's been subbed twice in our three games. Kreis pointed out he was especially gassed in Colorado

Fitness I think is a valid concern, but Mix is also one of our most active players. He puts in a lot of work every game. I just think Klinsi wanted to give the Euro players a chance. Mix gets the invite and someone like Danny Williams stays home. I think he is a lock for the Gold Cup team.

If it's about fitness, I'm not mad at him not getting called. The games don't mean anything other than bragging rights. He gets to stay with NYCFC and play games that matter, getting fit at the same time.

I'm sure there was pressure from many MLS coaches regarding calling up players for a meaningless friendly. I'm quite happy he didn't get called up.

Klinsmann was very clear why he didn't take very many MLS players (match form & fitness early in the year). Plus, the coach is still testing different players. He hasn't called up a "best 23" since the World Cup. That's why you shouldn't read too much into the roster for any given game (or the results).

I am just sad that he didn't call up Zusi and Besler.

Good to see Tim Ream get a shot, however.

These friendlies are about figuring out what you have. JK just had a very long look at Mix in January. Makes some sense. Plus I think JK wants Mix to work out to NYCFC since I think it's a good test for him.

International breaks are annoying enough for club fans when the league actually takes a break, as the worries about a player's getting injured are constant. When the league doesn't pause, as MLS doesn't, then the club fan must endure both the fear of the player's injury and his absence from the club.

So I am pleased not to have to deal with this in Mix's case. Assuming that Klinsmann knows what he has in Mix, this non-call-up won't hurt Mix's chances for selection come tournament time.
