That would definitely be helpful from a planning perspective - the only problem is that you'd probably be entering politically dicey territory there. Even if it's not exactly the most practical parkland, it's still liable to be a flashpoint with the community unless they can guarantee that they'll be able to replace it nearby. (It's a small sliver to be sure, but community boards live for these kind of fights)

Totally agree with you. But everything is negotiable. You give up 1,000 square feet of park space and we let you use the soccer stadium throughout the year. Things like this happen.

Just want to see how much that would help.

I don't think you can do anything with Heritage Park. It's the old Yankee Stadium, of course. Can't imagine you'd ever get permission to build anything there.

Or replace it with 50 soccer fields over the next 5 years in underserved neighborhoods throughout the city? o_O

Heh - well, keep in mind there that, under the plan, they will be using property already owned by DOE, Parks, or NYCHA, rather than acquiring new land nearby which is generally how land deals for alienated parkland are structured. (But yes, you're not wrong to surmise a connection there... ;))

Still. You do these things here. Can you rotate that field? Thanks.

What if you rotated the stadium 15 degrees clockwise? Take the Avaya Stadium "Pin" there and move it to encompass the unused space in Heritage Park. Does that make sense?

The only way to make it work would be to have three sides with lots of seating and one side with more or less no seating.

Ok, one more. Sorry. What if you laid the stadium next to the train tracks. Assume that the footbridge is taken out by the stadium and use up all of the GAL space. Start from the bottom left corner of GAL and then overlay the stadium?

That could work. You could turn the pitch counter clock-wise as well and it works better. Can you move the pitch counter clock-wise and then overlay just the black on the GAL and garage sites?

Thanks

The second one definitely, thank you.

On the first one, could you eliminate the footbridge that's near the top left corner and move the whole structure along the train line?
