2017 Roster Discussion

lol FWIW I always give credit to people who pass on stories (unless they don't want to be named).

As for the Mix thing, I spoke to someone else, and I'll leave the details intentionally vague, who gave me some information about Mix so I reached out to a few people but was unable to confirm it. But yes, the general gist is that Mix's situation will be clarified by the time the team returns to the US.

As JGarrettLieb JGarrettLieb mentioned, when you get info like this you have to be paranoid.

I don't think K Kjbert has a bad source because I've been able to corroborate things he's said in the past but no one is ever 100% right, things change. Maybe that was the original plan and they changed it. Anyways, I also don't have constant information. They've locked down the leaks so it's really hard to get anything from inside the FO now.

Have they locked down the leaks or only the leaks they don't want us knowing about? There is rather a large difference between a leak and a leak.

A leak would be quietly telling certain respected members of the NYCFC fan community certain pieces of information in order to reassure the fanbase that things are progressing and the world isn't falling apart as match 1 kickoff approaches. See our collective reactions about signings to see why the fan relationships people might get their way once in awhile. Kjbert and NYCFCfan meet this specific requirement quite well. They are well respected but have little official say in anything, and can be wrong without much annoyance on anyone's part. On the other hand, someone like roxfontaine would be the last person you'd want to leak something to (that he's allowed to talk about). He has way too much credibility, if he's saying something its because the FO wants the SG's to hear about it first for whatever reason.

A leak is an annoying thing, a piece of information that has managed to get where it shouldn't be. Little buggers should be hunted down with extreme prejudice and squashed, from the front office perspective.

I believe you two gentlemen are in possession of a proper leak with respect to Mix. Something to quiet the fans down a bit.

That would suck for him. Really good dude.
Was hoping he'd be a real squad player and make the team. Missing two years was probably crushing from a career standpoint for MLS - has anybody in a top league ever come back after two years? Or is it always either retirement or a lower division?

Nothing I've ever heard as been "fake news." Assume the same for others too JGarrettLieb JGarrettLieb

Well duh. There's very little point in leaking information that probably won't come true, if the objective is to quiet down the fanbase. All you've done is made the situation look worse by providing a red herring and then ripping it away. Fanbases get rather louder when you do that.

Cosmos! I called it. This is like the third or fourth thing I'm right about. They must leak the info to me in my dreams.

NYCFCfan NYCFCfan Don't reply if it is the Cosmos...

Haven't we learned that they rotate through the midfield? Maybe Pirlo will pull the strings from deep alone

Whos to blame?
Claudio meeting with txiki and Ferran. Also, Ferran and Txiki meeting with board.

What a waste, to use a guy with obvious offensive talent, in ring, to be pirlos caddy. Roster construction has sucked since year one, Whos to blame?

It's almost like we have a first-time manager working with a first-time sporting director.

I like Vieira, and I'm giving Reyna a lot of rope. But I sure am jealous of Atlanta having Tata Martino right now.

Heck, Bocanegro was doing pretty well on his own, too.

Curious to see how Tata sets up his teams. I wonder if they don't play 3 at the back and use Garza like an Azpilicueta.

Probably my guess at this point. So much attacking talent there.

This goes back to my thoughts that great players, more often than not, do not make great front office personnel or media pundits. Natural athletic talent does not translate to comparable intellect or management skills.
