Take this as you will but I'm told (and I'm extremely skeptical) that Mix will play in pre-season.

I was thinking that this may be a possibility. Like the Mexico friendly, there may be some weird dominance display or other silly game at work. It wouldn't surprise me.

Separately, NYCFCfan, any idea when the date certain is for the free cut? As mgarbowski pointed out above, the rules are (again) not helpful.

Lots of games in only a few days. Missing a couple of guys right now. Or maybe someone wants to see that he can still get up and down the field before they assume his contract.

If you HAVE to play him to get him moved, do it now and not in March.

I just hate seeing guys that we know will be asked to contribute (Awuah, Herrera?) not get reps because of this.

Presumably the roster finalization date (ie, the same date we have to have enough international spots to fit our players) but as mgarbowski already noted it's not given explicitly in the rules.

Either way, it's getting close to that point where if we do move him and free up the salary space, they will have to really haul ass to make use of that space in this window. I think midfield is now locked up, goalie is done, so we could go after another defender (Mata quality RB would be sweet) or one more experienced FWD to really make us legit contenders. Have they been thinking ahead? Who knows.

Pigheadedness (stupid)
Precedent (stupid)
Not rewarding bad behavior (reasonable, but ultimately outweighed by other considerations)

Yup, good call, substitute AE for NC (Cage was in it, but that does look like AE).
