2018 General MLS Transfer Rumors

I didn't realize this until this morning.

New England sat both Krysztian Nemeth and Lee Nguyen in their last game. They are apparently shopping Nemeth, who they just acquired in the off season for $400K in allocation money and an international slot. Nguyen had been pushing for a transfer and even sat out for a time in pre-season before begrudgingly joining the team. I had the sense NE was not going to move him anywhere.

Very weird situation. A bit like the below.

There are rumblings that Chicago may be after Nguyen.

That would be very bad for the East.
Would love to find some way to trade Tommy for Nguyen. Think he would do really well in our system. And I think Vieira could convince him to grind.

I can't see why they would go for that trade tho, and we might be too afraid of fan backlash to even try.

Our front office shouldn't be worried about the fans that would have backlash at trading away Tommy McNamara for Lee Nguyen. There is no rationale there.

I agree, but unfortunately our FO has some experience with inadequate rationalization.

Also, rationalizing about brand AKA rationalizing about the irrational is tricky.

I was moreso saying there was no rationale there on those fans' parts.

Edit1: I was trying to find a very polite way to say that fans that would be upset by that don't know what the hell they're talking about.

Edit2: The only fan backlash that should occur should such a trade happen, is in New England.

I love Nguyen as a player and would love him on this team, but I am not sure where he plays given the depth we already have at CAM and wing.

Hot take: Lee Nguyen is a shell of the player he was 3 years ago. Total abberation and they should let him go to Vietnam
