The site also says that Jasson is unavailable. But that cannot be true given that he's played MLS minutes this season. Something is wrong.

Also worth noting that we brought Malte in on a $1.44 million transfer, while Gudi came in for free.Gudi makes way too much for his abilities. Maybe 250-300K solely for his left foot, but I think most of us would like to see Amundsen at LB sooner than later. Good for Gudi though, make that cash when/where you can.
I thought Thiago was going to be TAM or some much larger sum of cash? His paycheck is making me rethink his potential to vastly help our offense up front.
Aside from Gudi, I think most of the contracts are fair with most people performing up to or slightly beyond their wages. Maybe ITS has recessed, but attackers do tend to grab larger paychecks.
They must have bigger plans for Morales. He was a regular starter for a Bundesliga team, so I'm assuming we have not seen the best of him.No major shocks, but Gudi is paid significantly more than Amundsen which might explain some things. In fact Amundsen's pay is closer to Gloster than to Thor. Morales makes too much to think that we signed him to be a role player.
Meanwhile, Jesus Medina is still listed as a Young Designated Player on the MLS website.

Having precisely zero official statements to the contrary, I consider this to be established fact until proven otherwise. Maybe, maybe, the plan is to buy him down midseason since we're not signing any new DPs until then anyway. I don't even know if that is allowed, but if it is, it makes sense, because the DP pay is off-budget and unlimited, while the TAM needed to buy him down is a depleting, limited asset. So use only what you need for the half season.
Does the MLSPA release salaries twice a year? I'd love to see what this deal looks like.Signed with NYCFC through 2025

FTA: "They have the ability to add another senior Designated Player..."Exclusive: NYCFC sporting director on summer plan, Valentin Castellanos extension | MLSSoccer.com
New York City FC's offseason was under the microscope quite a bit this past winter. It began with key departures, as club captain Alex Ring (to Austin FC) and stalwart left back Ronald Matarrita (to FC Cincinnati) were both traded within MLS. With all the allocation money returned and subsequentwww.mlssoccer.com
I'll believe we have new players when they are playing on the field. No longer are announcements good enough.
FTA: "They have the ability to add another senior Designated Player..."
As in one, not two.
While this salary data is the only publicly-available information regarding MLS player compensation, the formula the MLSPA uses for guaranteed compensation does not give a perfectly accurate indication of what a player is making this season. Because of the way the MLSPA annualizes bonuses across the total years of a contract to get guaranteed compensation, a salary may be higher or lower in any given year across the life of the contract. In addition, these salary numbers are not the numbers at which players hit a team’s budget charge. The budget charge also includes acquisition costs, most notably transfer fees. The guaranteed compensation figures provided by the MLSPA also do not include performance bonuses.
Among other reasons, this is why the answer to K Kjbert's question above regarding the total salary cap hit is that nobody has any clue, and if someone claims to provide that information they are either leaking confidential information, or more likely lying or ignorant.I posted this in the general MLS discussion before coming over here to seesalary discussion but caveat on the numbers (cribbing from the Athletic):
Can someone find the full version of this David Lee interview from the 2020 playoffs? I mentioned this before but this was where I had remembered/sourced it but the full interview is not on Yes. Notably though at the bottom of the screen there’s a note that we would have two open spotsMeanwhile, Jesus Medina is still listed as a Young Designated Player on the MLS website.

The MLS article from 4-6 posts above pretty much says we have one DP spot. As I suggested somewhere this morning, maybe we have not yet bought down Medina but might this summer? No matter what Lee said in 2020, and I don't doubt you, (plus there's an Athletic article from some months back that reported something about buying down Medina though I'm, not sure if it was prospective or not) but as of right now we have no official announcement, press release or even a tweet saying that Medina's status status has changed, and the MLS website and NYCFC website roster pages both call Medina a DP as of today. Can someone find the full version of this David Lee interview from the 2020 playoffs? Perhaps there is some cost or disadvantage to buying him down before we have someone to fill the spot? The MLS article from 4-6 posts above pretty much says we have one DP spot. Akin to what I wrote earlier today, but I just don’t know.Perhaps there is some cost or disadvantage to buying him down before we have someone to fill the spot?
