I’d take a risk at signing Diego Costa. That would be fun
With Magno, Thiago, and Santiago do we have enough budget room to sign a 10 to backup Moralez?
DPIs Santiago a DP or a young money signing? If he's a young money signing, then we still have the DP spot. If he's a DP, then we can sign someone at a high transfer fee/salary up to $600,000/year. So the short answer is yes, we should still have enough -- and when Maxi does leave after this season we'll have that DP spot.
But isn't Santiago a No. 10? Maybe he's the replacement for Maxi.
Santiago is a winger, but I think he’s definitely capable of being a backup 10Is Santiago a DP or a young money signing? If he's a young money signing, then we still have the DP spot. thing is it doesn't feel that way. how many times in past two years we have said that we need an all out striker or finisher because chances are created but no one can finish them.
hes not being sold for $50M if he sucks here.
If you open the checkbook, you could have almost anyone you want of a certain age. Cavani. Suarez. Aguerro. Benzema. All of these guys are either out of contract or about to be out of contract.
I’m not saying any of all of these guys make sense but if you’re going to spend the money, there is an alternative. We’re obviously just a business and not a football club. Unlike Man City
Very well said. I find this to be the most exciting/intriguing signing we have made. It may not pan out, but it's highly strategic with massive upside for both our club and the mother ship, and will be fun to see how it goes!I think this quote sums it up. This is the most ambitious signing NYCFC has ever made in terms of upswing potential. Angelino already belonged to CFG, so he wasn´t ours, he was a loanee. Medina came from a lower league and wasn´t on anybody's radar. Mitrita was more of a finished product but also from a lower league than Brazil´s and unlikely to triple or quadruple in value. Still, when he was on, he was very good for us. Villa, Lampard and Pirlo came here to finish their careers.
This guy Talles Magno is either a guy who has fallen precipitously in expected value due to injuries and/or behavior, or he also may be part of a fire sale by a club that is strapped for cash. But as a 17 y.o he was valued at over 20 million bucks with a buyout clause over 60 million. At 17 years old. He was known for showboating in the freaking Brazilian top-flight at 17/18 years old. Consider a top 50 prospect in the world for his age group. All that may amount to nothing in NYC. But there has to be real big talent there, whether he is able to channel it in MLS or not. I'm sure there are a lot of red flags and that´s why he´s fallen on our lap. But he´s not the kind of player we usually get. So let´s enjoy the possibilities me says.
I don't think you are going to see too many teams use the U22 signings on high transfer fee players. Fees over 2.5 million won't get the max allocation dollars on a sale. Thiago Andrade ($1.8 million, 200k salary) I think is more what we are going to see from the U22 tag.Is Santiago a DP or a young money signing? HiguainI´m sorry but that is just not true, unless you mean a $20 million fee and weekly wages over 150K for guys who are still very valuable. The key here is that they get offered 1 or 2 year deals only, but bu whom: Real Madrid, Man U, Atletico Madrid, etc. No MLS team has ever competed with UCL teams, much less with UCL heavyweights like those. Benzema is literally RM best player right now, the main man if they win the league this year. Ditto for Suarez, to the point that Barza are lamenting letting him go. Man U was begging Cavani to renew for another year, and I´m sure his salary won´t be MLS-like. Aguero is the only one of them who may have lost substantial value. The only option to entice them stateside would be to offer them a substantial 4 year contract. Do you want to do that?
I'm hoping to ask Ronny if there's any plan to loan Haak out considering the current logjam at that spot. Have just had other items I've wanted to ask him more pertinent to the upcoming matches and usually only get 1 question each press conference.
Yup, he actually specifically mentioned the congestion in August, so hopefully before that.problem is that is we are actually getting close to that now. I think it all starts in July till October there are some crazy weeks in there.
I think this is where I'm landing as well. It's super clear that Haak needs one. Once we add Talles, Thiago, and Santi (assuming) and Heber returns from injury, hard to see Jasson getting minutes so I think it would be good for him to go out too.Haak needs a loan. Don't think Gray does. I'd prefer Jasson goes on loan now that reinforcements are arriving

Gray could benefit from a loan, but I think it depends on if Ronny thinks Gloster could be a backup RB. If so, then definitely get Gray out on loan. If not, then I think he stays put for now.
