hey everyone is invited tomorrow to the Caravan to RBA let’s make it a big one.. if you know a better place in the forums to post it feel free

Not sure if I’d prefer the club not putting out a milquetoast tweet today or them acknowledging the human rights assault that is occurring.

Other companies have shown the response need not be either of those. But I don't expect CFG to be the org among the leaders of the pack on this.

I've seen a large number of NWSL teams put out statements on twitter, and a good number of MLS clubs where they have both a men's and a women's team sending out a joint tweet. Don't recall any standalone MLS teams saying anything though, although to be fair I've not looked for that specifically.

And for those thinking we should stay out of it as it's "just" politics, it's potentially a huge problem. What if we're playing in Texas, say, and a female staffer who's traveling with the team has a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy and the local hospital is by law not allowed to help her? This is where we are now.

My thoughts exactly. Health issues aren’t political. At least they shouldn’t be. You’re entitled to your opinion, politically and religiously, about the nature of abortion.

But there are very obvious medical needs for the procedure and it’s now something each business has to account for.

30+ hours and still nothing.

Im guessing im the most conservative guy on here - but when you go silent yesterday and still can’t keep the Nazis out of the stadium, it sends a weird message.

Who runs our socials?

I am pro-choice, but I don’t think it is the responsibility of various businesses to speak out every time something like this happens.

NY is a pro-choice city for sure, but there is still a large minority that is pro-life. I disagree with their position, but I respect them as people and believe they should be able to attend our games without feeling unwelcome or unappreciated.

so why does the club or MLS need to say something about it on their social media?

I want to know their plan for protecting female employees. Since they couldn’t protect them from David Villa

Social issues in sports are such an odd thing to understand. If you recall a few years ago players were told to ‘just dribble’ when speaking out on some social issues. Now with this an entire team is supposed to issue a statement.

I think we tend to look at sports and our teams as something other than what they are. A business entity with players (employees) bound by their contracts. I sure as hell couldn’t come to work and talk about this issue freely with my customers, or wear anything that represents my stance.
While I understand that these teams/leagues operate differently than that and that they can take a cumulative stance, they don’t have to. It’s a divisive issue and I don’t expect my company, my coffee shop, my team, my car manufacturer or anything else for that matter to tell me how they feel about a social issue. If they do, fine by me. But I know they are doing so with the understanding that they’ll loose business and anger people.
A lot of the teams making these statements are from states or cities where they’re expected to or owned by someone that is backing it. We are 1 of those 2 things.

This is different. This isn’t politics. This is health. It’s no different than COVID response
