I don't think it worked that way. I think it was an idea developed while reviewing and synthesizing other research studies.
Which is to say, yes, the thesis itself could be born of confirmation bias. Maybe they found what they wanted to find.
It's an old saw: people hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see.

I must be honest, though: I found a lot of value in my old Social Psychology textbook, even though most everything in it were lessons I had already learned from behind the stick. (I'm a street philosopher. 😆) Having a name for the discrete types of bias helped me build a coherent framework.

Anyway, this looks intriguing. Thanks for posting, mgarbowski!

Not sure. Looks like you got my ironic font in the end.

I didn't notice a font but I did take your point via text.

I feel like they missed a golden opportunity with the title. They could've gone with 'Research Confirming...'—leaning all the way into the confirmation bias—or 'A Unified Theory of Bias' if they really wanted to stir things up with the astrophysicists.

My wife had her ceremony today to be admitted into Federal court so I took the day off to celebrate with her! I am very proud of her. Federal court takes itself so serious compared to state court haha. Anyways, figured with all the lawyers here, y'all could appreciate her accomplishments with me!

My sense is the NY theatre industry is kept alive by a smallish group of dedicated theatre-goers, plus a larger group of people like me who go regularly but not often. My wife and I probably see 1-2 shows per year, and closer to 1. Most local residents probably go almost never.

If you never go, or haven't gone in a long time, try it. Musicals, classics, revivals, stunt casting, Disney adaptations, fresh drama. Pick something and go. It really is special.

My wife and I are relatively young and are finally in a financially sound place. So we decided to do some splurging with our “adult money.” I got season tickets for the both of us and her splurge was either going to the ballet or a musical once a month of her choosing. She’s a former professional ballerina. I always enjoy seeing live performances and am big advocate for it here in the city. There are very few places in the world where you can see such top talent, and high quality production. I’m a big believer in theater and live shows. I think the run is almost over, but seeing Cabaret (multiple times with different actors playing Sally Bowles and the MC) was a highlight for me. So well done.

Broadway is truly a miracle. I don't go nearly as often as I want to, but every show I've seen has been an incredible experience.

That sounds awesome.
Since you brought up finances, I'll make clear to anyone wondering: I know this can be expensive, especially when you go often. Even for people with discretionary spend capabilities, for many of us adding something new means taking away something we already love.

My point really - for those who need convincing - is if you haven't even thought about going ever, or in a while, think about trying it once [again]. If you're flexible TKTS has deals. My wife and I got out of the habit of seeing shows, concerts, etc., when our girls were young. We still could have swung the money and also arranged sitters on occasion. We just didn't. Now we do and I'm very glad of it.

By the way, Bill and Ted made a most excellent Vladimir and Estragon. I think their real life personal 40 year history together helped deepen the performance. Didi and Gogo have their own decades long friendship, even if they have trouble remembering it. Ponzo was very strong also. Lucky has less opportunity to shine but he certainly did not pull the team down.
