If we get through to the second round Champions League we'll have 8 games between Feb 20 and March 21. There will be ample playing time to go around

Thoughts?
Worries?
Will he go on another listening tour?

David Lee said:
“Knowing we had a very strong group of players returning in 2020, we wanted to recruit an experienced manager who played in a similar style as we have done in the past few years, with a proven ability to win league titles and develop players. Ronny meets that criteria managing over 400 games, winning three leagues titles and two domestic cup competitions, along with many players who have been identified and developed by Ronny that have gone on to have careers at the highest levels of football.

Details of Ronny’s coaching staff will be released at a later date.

As expected, waiting on Work Visa. Trickle down is also no staff announced which means not hired, and also all who will likely need visas. Camp kickoff is gonna be interesting.

Can Brad Sims say anything different than his usual media blurb? I swear he uses the exact same template for everything.

Well we have a coach now. Let's hope the players can get behind him and most importantly, trust him to lead them through this season.

I worry he's gonna have some issues with our home field situation. If he's the outspoken character that he seems to be.. maybe he'll be the first coach to break with cfg conformity and complain more than our previous coaches.

IF I the biggest (possibly only) Rangers supporter on here can have an open mind about bringing in a former Celtic boss so should everyone else. :D

Seriously welcome Ronny , no idea how he'll do but I can only wish the best for our sake.

well he wont leave right away thats for sure. they dont even want him in his own country league. so i guess those that wanted someone to stay long got that wish. he will also "bleed blue" based on his crazy videos of his passion. so the intern that read alot of the comments got word back to CFG to let them know what to look for.

im still iffy because like its been said. if he struggled with the best squad in the league by far, how will he cope here. also this may mean more minutes of GMS? at the expense of who though? ITS? well find out.

EDIT: i dont think it will start smoothly because of how late this was announced and how little time they will have to train and get used to his ideas before CCL start.

Seems like most people are positive, or at least not negative, towards him. The biggest ire is probably geared towards CFG/NYCFC for their bumbling hiring process as it’s very evident that Ronny wasn’t their top choice and it’s questionable if he was even in their short list. That’s no knock on him, more that CFG/NYCFC ran a process that was deeply flawed for any number of reasons that could include, and were not addressed to the candidate’s liking: reaching for managers out of the club’s league, poor compensation comparatively, lacking player control (stays with CFG), disdain for MLS competition variables with travel/scheduling/cap, disdain for YS/Citi conditions, etc.

I truly hope Ronny becomes our own demigod cult of personality that leads with panache and gets the results. No idea if it’ll happen, and if he goes through a dozen matches that mimics Dome’s poor form, then I’ll form my opinion on that, or any win streak/success he has. I’m just very nervous that camp is going to start with a stutter with a lack of staff - this would be a great time to hold camp in the south of Spain where visa aren’t an issue and the weather is accommodating. Use the CFG bank to every advantage possible.

I think he'll do well.

Everyone giving the 'he did badly with a stacked squad', what would you say about Pep this year? Arguably the best squad in the league but what happened? Is it Pep's fault? Is it the players' mentality that changed?

First interview.
I know it's 'club sanitized', but still very worth the listen. Talks about tactics, mentality, etc.

Norwegian Klopp sounds like an STD.

does that still apply to him. i know they mention that alot during his early celtic days but man it has not seem like that for a while now.

Yup. Sounds like Javier and Rob will have to start training camp, though I saw one tweet say the club expects it could have Deila's visa sorted out as early as late this week, so maybe that process got started a week or two ago? It took Torrent 12 days to get here (hired June 11, arrived the night before the next game), so if it started early last week there's a chance they can get him here in time to start camp. Remember that with camp beginning on Saturday, the first on-field stuff probably isn't until Sunday or Monday. So that gives him an extra day or two. Saturday is arrival day, maybe travel on Saturday or Sunday, plus off-field testing and physicals have to take place before they can get on the field.
