Maybe SoupInNYC can speak more directly on this, but I believe that infrastructure is already a part of the development plan. I don't think there would be any possible for the deal to go through politically without that component. This is a not contrarian or cyniical opinion, I just dont see how a stadium can be built during a potential Messi, stop with NYCFC. Is it me or is it not likely that CFG will need to contribue signifcant additional funds for the infrastructure around the stadium to get it done even by the end of a potential The City and State will not be able to help with the big money tickets such as any work on the MTA lines, or the closing of the 153rd St off ramp. Not while the MTA is announcing plans services cuts and layoffs. The State budget is currenty has a $13 billion shortfall, and increasing tolls etc was supposed to help fund the replacement of the Malcom Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge.
So when the stadium gets built, those fees are going to be passed onto the fans., even with the limited amount of season ticketholders left, they will wipe out those fans by either charging a large PSL or just pricing out the fans, and justify by saying that the casusal fans will pay to see Messi. Of course, if the teams waits for the city and state to help pay for the infrastructure, then maybe we can see Messi's kid play for NYCFC.
I really do hope i am wrong on this, but CFG knows there has to be a stadium built for him or he will just asked to be transfered to Inter Miami or one of the LA teams.

Yup. The development team has been in discussions with various agencies (state and city) regarding some of the infrastructure related items that would need to be taken care of, so it's on the top of mind. This includes DOT (city and state), MTA, and others.Maybe SoupInNYC can speak more directly on this, but I believe that infrastructure is already a part of the development plan. Still no way this stadium gets built in the next three years, but hopefully this fall we see some movement on next steps.
We would need to start voting in city council and borough council members who are Messi fans.could Messi be used as an incentive to speed up stadium timelines? We all know that he’s not coming to play at YS.

That’s actually really cool. Some people are just gifted at certain things beyond everyone else. This kid’s pretty good. Might even make it to the pros when he grows up although he’s only 8 years old so it might be too soon to tell.
no lie id like to see what courts decide here. because since the season was extended and the covid circumstances i feel there is a case there.
and la liga damn well wants him to stay, ratings will go down when two of the most popular players in the world leave your league. while real madrid/ barcelona are still big the popularity went up exponentially with messi and ronaldo.
Absolutely. The date, you would think, would be contigent on the season ending. Feels like it makes sense the way Messi has handled it.
Also, the guy is a club legend, they really shouldn't drag him into court over this. Why would they want a player on their roster who doesn't want to be there? Would be a terrible look for Barca if they don't fold.
