RUMOR: Messi/Pep to MCFC and NYCFC

so we get 36/37 yr old messi then at YS.
He’d be here at 36 halfway through our season unless he’s given half a year off before joining us for the following season. Either way they’ll surround him with talent. Wouldn’t be just him and the caliber of DP’s we have now.

This is yet to be seen from CFG but with messi it can be way for them to actually spend for other players across the different positions.

I am sure the week before he comes to NYC , Man city will make him stay and claim there was no deal

I would also vote No Messi play in YS , if it was RBA I would probably go to his 1st Game then the pain of getting back to Long Island would take over and I wouldn’t go again

I have a terrible feeling that this will turn into another Lampard situation. Sure, it will be announced he's coming after 3 years, but some injury happens to a member of the Man City squad or Messi picks up a nock himself and it's not fully fit at the start of his time at NYCFC.

Or he just retires and said see ya

Well that’s where you’re wrong. The contract would be constructed so that he doesn’t receive a second massive signing bonus until he goes to NYCFC. That’s how they bypass the financial fair play.

How much more money (either percentage or x multiple) are you willing to pay for season tickets comparing what you paid for 2020 if Messi comes?

I've never had season tickets but honestly with all the rumors floating around ive been thinking maybe i should buy some now before the prices go sky high. But then i wonder if the club will just raise the price of season tickets regardless if i buy them 3 seasons early or just wait until the season he would potentially arrive.

I’d say the majority of teams, NYCFC included, offering lower pricing for season ticket holders. When they raised prices in the past the hike was smaller for STH’s

This can also be viewed as a gambit to spur interest as NYCFC opens its new stadium. Originally, it was possible he would have arrived the season the stadium opened. Even if pushed back a year, his first full season could coincide with the stadium opening.

Of course, CFG appears to be paying more for Messi than for the stadium in the Bronx.

Also, I love that every news outlet around the world outside of Spain had to write a story explaining what a burofax is
