Mix can't write poetry to save his life?

Mix doesn't know how to act in a business appropriate manner?

Mix is definitely not going to play again.

So Mix wrote another poem

Can we try to dissect this a bit?

Someone told me I'm not part of the plan
And if he was I - he'd run like the others ran
CR told him they had other plans and he should find somewhere else to play. Furthermore, he's not the 1st player CR forced out.

'
Cause the budget is tight
And binding contracts might
Be broken, to improve 5-6 positions - in exchange for only one man.
Sounds like CR laid it on him straight. It's exactly what we all said for the last 2 seasons. That $750k could be spread across the board to bring in 5-6 quality players when also factoring in the salary spent on the mediocre players.

He went on to say; "the message is clear -
Unless you're clueless - because you've lived it all year
Since the budget is tight
And binding contracts might
Need to be broken... if you crack, kneel, or leave the hemisphere"
As we've all suspected, Mix was sat all year in an attempt to make him "crack" by walking away from his contract and heading back to Europe.

Who can tell so straight and clearly
Tales of destiny I fight sincerely
When mental games
Are attempting aims
To make me rage severely?
The club continued to sit him and leave him off the 18 in hopes he would crack and do something stupid so they could void his contract. Or he's just give up and leave on his own.

On and on the conversation went
About money spent
And special rules
And mgt's tools
And something about allocation being different cent
Mix was eating up all the teams TAM and severely hindering their ability to build the roster. I'm sure the line "it's nothing personal" was used many times over.

I wish I had
Right there - my pad
'Cause then my favorite line
Fused by Robin Williams spine
Would play dead poets - real bad
He's so frustrated he wants to just let out a mighty Yawp, as mentioned in his previous tweets. Or maybe he's about to be freed and will scream his yawp as a sound of freedom...

He wasn't going to play again anyway.

Business appropriate? Dude, he has front office people leaking shit of vague detail and unkown veracity to forum members and a team trying to goad him into violating his contract. Fairly tame response for me.

Anyway, this won't get as much discussion as it might otherwise, because quite a few of us got it 3 days ago and have discussed off-forum. How's that for insider info?

I honestly can't think of another player who's acted like Mix has in this situation. Which I think speaks volumes, but interesting that some people are still determined to see him as this dignified hero.

What a mess. Can't wait for the Mixican standoff to be over.

What did you get three days ago? The shitty poem? Or the fact that the FO is trying to goadMix into a breach of contract situation?

WRT Mix's response anything that isn't him acquiescing to the team's demands is basically saying fuck you pay me. Which is his right. Its not professional for him to take it public, because that's not really what athletes should do, they should keep it behind closed doors and let us hyperventalate about it. And start talks with other teams quietly, assuming his contract allows that.

The team signed a bad contract, they can do whatever they want in order to try and get out of it, but at the end of the day Mix has NYCFC over a barrel. I'm sure he'd let himself be released, as soon as they paid him the 1.5mm he's due.

Yes. The poem.

I didn't have your email.

And you understood it the same we did, ftr.

Oh, and I didn't actually get insider info. Just screwing with everyone. I just happened to catch something during a very brief window and deemed it prudent to keep it quiet until it was obviously intended for public consumption.

Pretty cool that some of you guys got invited to Mix's secret show. I guess I need to get on his newsletter list.

I have to agree with JGarrettLieb JGarrettLieb. The team did this to themselves. I think Mix has actually been pretty professional about all of this. It's been going on for a year and a half and this is really the first time I can remember him being so public about the situation.

While I did have it, like I said, it wasn't really insider info. Just wanted to see what it felt like to claim I had it for once.

How did it make me feel? Like this.

I think that poem confirms they bought out his contract

"And binding contracts might
Be broken, to improve 5-6 positions - in exchange for only one man."

This line concerns me. If I'm interpreting it correctly it means we've already used the money his contract frees up on the players we brought in the current window and that buying him out simply makes us salary cap compliant.

Not a hero. Just a dude at the end of his rope.

Why does that concern you? Our roster looks much better off this season then it did last.

Because then we won't have much flexibility to make moves in the summer

We should still have pro-rated TAM to maybe buy down Maxi and sign a DP which wouldn't really hit the cap since we're swaping one out for the other. We'll see... and maybe we're doing ok by June and don't need any huge signings to stay competitive.

"We wish Mix the best of luck in his next professional opportunity." Can't wait to read that statement from the FO and we don't have to talk about his awful contract anymore.

The fact is Mix was signed to a contract for him to be one of the 2-3 focal players of the team (for being THE most expensive player cap-wise) and it didn't work out - it's the fault of both parties. Nothing more to see here and move on.

I'm kind of surprised that Claudio Reyna hasn't used the leak channels to try to get a letter writing campaign to ask Mix to leave started. Though that probably falls out of the realm of allowable conduct, as long as its plausibly deniable it shouldn't be too hard.

Dear Mix,

Would you please leave the club, I want to see us win a MLS cup! For whatever reason its pretty clear that the club won't ever let you play again. And as long as you are on the team we're basically taking a 10% handicap on our salary cap. I realize that its not in your best personal interest to walk away from a good contract, but it would really help the team. I know you came here to win and get paid, however, would you please help contribute to the dreams of 1000's of New Yorkers and make the team stronger by leaving?

I realize that its a genuinely stupid personal financial choice to do it, but you can't be happy being functionally ignored at work, and you'd make it possible for others to be happier with your absence.

best,
someone.

Rereading that I just realized how genuinely crap I am at appealing to emotions. I tried to appeal to the greater good because Mix, being raised in Norway, might have took to heart some of that socialist nonsense. Well I guess its time to practice letter writing, since apparently my brain believes it has approximately zero to do with e-mail writing and refuses to fire those neurons.
