2017 Summer Signings

Lots of speculation on SITC that Coach V wants to go with 3 in the back and 2 strikers. Would need to get a new RCB for that to work.

- - - -Villa- - Shelton/Okoli
- - - - - - - - - Maxi
Wallace - - - - - - - - - Harrison
- - - - - Ring - - - - Herrera
- - Callens - Chanot - ?????
- - - - - - - - Johnson

You technically could play Chanot on the right and have Brillant center but that leaves no depth since all those guys need to be true center backs. Can't have Sweat or White in that back three.

So basically copy Toronto?

Let's layer some speculation on top of speculation: Maybe we are preparing for a striker DP replacement for Pirlo next year. Fernando Torres anyone?

F: Villa, DP ST
M: Wallace, Ring, Maxi, Herrera, Harrison
D: Callens, Chanot, TAM RCB

ugh hell no

That's what I thought. Toronto's been killing it since they went to 3-5-2; most likely have to go through them to get to the cup
its a copy cat world. 4-2-3-1 was the hot formation in europe and the MLS followed. Then Chelsea started off poorly so conte switched to the christmas tree formation and won the league. Arsenal were floundering late switched to the 3 in the back too and finished strong (albeit too late to finish 4th) and now its permeating through MLS.

How do you plan on buying down a $2M a year Maxi?

well they technically cannot throw around much due to cap and other limitations in MLS
That's because we had to carry their marketing ventures for the past three years, 2 out of 3 who have been candidates for worst in the league DPs. I was promised by legions of Mancunians that I'd love CFG. Still waiting for that.

maybe...but its not like CFG can drop 50 million right now on players even if it wanted to. nor will it ever freely be able to....only on DP's and we only get one spot next year

Transfermarkt already reporting him to Torque as of yesterday. Hopefully he comes sooner than later and can push out Brillant next year.

Torque also signed another young CB recently: https://www.transfermarkt.com/facundo-mallo/profil/spieler/347193

It is clear that CFG has just bought Torque FC from the Uruguayan 2nd tier and is investing what is a lot of $$$ for that market in order to get it promoted to 1st division. For example, this guy Mallo was bought from the Uruguayan 1st division to play in 2nd division despite the fact that the transfer fee was his highest ever and he's been National Team U20. Same case with the Venezuelan guy that's rumored for us. I don't know how this may favor us or be detrimental. But same as with CFG's purchase of Girona it just means that CFG has many places to rotate its younger players and we are just one of many.

We got bamboozled by the Lampard start date, but to say he's one of the worst DP signings is laughable. He was averaging over a goal every two games, including some really important road goals that completely flipped the script. That said, I think I'm with you in hopes that the team is looking long-term with its next DP signing.

So we only saw that one rumor during typical business hours today and the transfer window closes tomorrow. It's going to be exciting to wait for news or no news...
