Villa doesn't know whether he will re-sign. And he says that's not something he's even thinking about right now, whether he'll re-sign or not. If he feels good, he'll re-sign. if not, he'll hang up his boots.
...But we already knew that, there's nothing new about that.
The revelation in this article is the other part, that seemed to cause the last ridiculous rumor:

If I were CFG I'd want him here after as well because who knows who he can convince or attract to come! If PV had that sort of effect on certain players, who knows what other players Villa can attract too! "Oh, I hear Villa is working as a _______ for NYCFC..." etc.

Why were we and Orlando so bad our expansion years, yet Atlanta, LAFC, teams starting from scratch, have been quite dominant from the get-go? Did MLS Expansion rules/spending change?

Others are likely better versed in the specifics but it's my understanding that for Atlanta and all teams that have come after they shrunk the expansion draft and instead gave them considerably more TAM/GAM. They may also get more international slots but I'm not 100% on that. General consensus is that the system for the teams after us is considerably more advantageous than the constraints NYCFC entered the league under.

Mix was the original oh crap Lampard is missing signing. I think the league panicked just as much the team and possibly made a rule for us or at least let us use an impending rule a bit early.

Watching el trafico, and I know our depth at winger right now is pretty good, but depending what happens this offseason, a run at Emma Boateng wouldn't be all that bad.

We and Orlando did get some extra GAM to start out. It's a lot less than clubs get now, and we don't know exactly how much, but it was something. I always figured we used all of it on Mix.

Also (and this may belong somewhere else), we play DCU on 9/8, and Zoltan Stieber has been called to the Hungarian national team for a friendly on that date.

Zoltan is an occasional started and often comes off the bench for DCU.

I’d really like to hope Amagat never sees the field again and Sands is starting.

Mata may have also permanently punched his card to the bench if Sweat is available at LB - especially because down 2 men vs Red Bull Sweat looked better at LB than Mata ever has.

He had one bad game -- I would hope a new signing gets more chances than that. Red Bulls are a very difficult team to make your debut against, so I'd like to see him get another chance. Don't give up on a guy after 41 minutes. That's needlessly and perhaps harmfully reactionary.

Mata to the bench wouldn't surprise me as long as Callens can play. If Callens is still out, then I don't think we have the personnel to keep Mata on the bench. Judging by the way SAS was used this season, I can't imagine a recall is coming. Both coaches seem to have no use for him.
