David Villa said:“It’s fake news. Every time I’m talking with the people of the club, people of the [City Football Group], the people in the team, they always show me that they want me here forever,”
"... as a player"https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...n-nycfc-want-me-here-forever-no-current-talks
Villa doesn't know whether he will re-sign. And he says that's not something he's even thinking about right now, whether he'll re-sign or not. If he feels good, he'll re-sign. if not, he'll hang up his boots.
...But we already knew that, there's nothing new about that.
The revelation in this article is the other part, that seemed to cause the last ridiculous rumor:
If I were CFG I'd want him here after as well because who knows who he can convince or attract to come! If PV had that sort of effect on certain players, who knows what other players Villa can attract too! "Oh, I hear Villa is working as a _______ for NYCFC..." etc."... as a player"
IDK where to put this question:
Why were we and Orlando so bad our expansion years, yet Atlanta, LAFC, teams starting from scratch, have been quite dominant from the get-go? Did MLS Expansion rules/spending change?

Others are likely better versed in the specifics but it's my understanding that for Atlanta and all teams that have come after they shrunk the expansion draft and instead gave them considerably more TAM/GAM. They may also get more international slots but I'm not 100% on that. General consensus is that the system for the teams after us is considerably more advantageous than the constraints NYCFC entered the league under.
Yeah, less expansion draft slots. More GAM/TAM. Looking at relatively younger South America for players and not Europe. And there wasn't any prior teams that expanded with GAM/TAM, so Atlanta and LAFC has explains to look at. Jason Kreis. Lampard missing. Signing Pirlo because Lampard missing.
We and Orlando did get some extra GAM to start out. It's a lot less than clubs get now, and we don't know exactly how much, but it was something. I always figured we used all of it on Mix.MLS never admitted it but Im still not convinced that Mix wasn't the first ever TAM player, did we ever sort out any other explaination for how his 750k fit under our cap as a non DP? Mix was the original oh crap Lampard is missing signing. I think the league panicked just as much the team and possibly made a rule for us or at least let us use an impending rule a bit early.
Rodney Wallace called up for the Costa Rican national team friendlies on 9/7 and 9/11. Means he will for sure miss the 9/8 game against DCU and possibly the 9/5 game against the Revs.

Doesn't look like it.Matarrita?
I’d really like to hope Amagat never sees the field again and Sands is starting.Ofori also called up according to Schnitzer. So we're going to be missing Ofori and Chanot, in addition to all the injuries, for that DC game. Yikes. We will likely have 19 available players for that game.

If Callens isn't back by then, who starts at CB? Sweat? We have no one else available.
If Sweat starts, the bench would probably be: Sands, Awuah, Bedoya, Lewis, Tommy, Scally, goalie -- We have no one else available
I’d really like to hope Amagat never sees the field again and Sands is starting.
Mata may have also permanently punched his card to the bench if Sweat is available at LB - especially because down 2 men vs Red Bull Sweat looked better at LB than Mata ever has.
SAS could be recalled.
