2018 Roster Discussion

I like the South American young DP approach, I just hope this kid is good.

Connor Brandt? George John? I’m sure I can come up with a long list if I had the time.

They're physios, not wizards. I get why fans jump to the conclusion that "injuries = bad physios", but is there any evidence of that? Ever wondered why you never see physios get sacked for medical malpractice?

No-one ever runs onto a forum to praise the physios for having a 36 year-old David Villa running like the Duracell bunny, or keeping Alex Callens going through every minute of the season. But as soon as you get a spate of (inevitable) injuries people are moaning again. It's a thankless job.

I can’t speak to what others were complaining about. But there were a number of misdiagnosis witb a few of our players that led to elongated absences. Injuries happen, that’s true. But multiple misdiagnoses is a problem.

Who was misdiagnosed? I can't remember - was Lampard one of them?

We have the worst physios

I never understand this line of thought with regards to team doctors and trainers. With an injury of that magnitude the team docs aren't doing more than offering a preliminary diagnosis and sending the player to whatever specialist is appropriate for the injury. We can assume it's a likely an NYP doctor due to the team relationship but beyond that the players would be treated as a patient of that doctor, given the information and options regarding treatments and it would have nothing to do with the team.

The only way I could see blame falling on the club would be if the team put pressure on the player to make a medical choice that would rush the player back rather than the option that had the higher odds of a full recovery. Clearly in the case of Chanot they followed the common route for recovery from a hernia, wait to see if it can heal on it's own and then when it didn't do surgery.

I have no idea why Brandt has regularly gone on social media and cried about the team causing his injury woes. Especially when you consider the fact that most MLS 2nd round picks often never make the roster let alone get carried for two years through an injury. The only scenario I can come up with is that they told him they would cut him if he wasn't ready to go come the start of season 2 and he chose to rush back when he shouldn't have. The fact that they even invited him back to camp year 2 seemed generous based on how year 1 went so I just don't get where all the complaining comes from.

This Medina kid better be Almoron Part 2. I'm starting to get disgusted with our DP choices. We're 1 for 4 and making MLS 2.0 choices.

Will Parchman talked on Twitter today about how the MLS Salary Cap doesn't matter because only two teams have shown the willingness to blow up the budget - Toronto and Atlanta.

That's an indictment of our Club. And I think he's right.

What type of target would you like instead?

Moreover, CFG is finally spending big on transfer fees is this goes through, and we had the 2nd highest payroll in the league last year. Not sure how money can be a complaint here?

If true, we’d finally be spending a transfer fee. And $4mm is nothing to scoff at. Also, a talented 20 year old is exactly what we all were asking for. This is our first 3.0 move, hope it works out. Also, this kid looks good. We’re going to be fast next season, that’s for sure.

Kid is fast and slick with the ball. Only question is can that translate into MLS.

4 million is a hefty fee for MLS.
