How many Academy players make the trip to LA?

And how many make the trip to Mexico...

Well, Ofori would be a loan as well, but perhaps the intent is to buy at the end of the year if things work out.

He had a good half season last spring when he helped Stuttgart achieve promotion, but has done nothing since they joined the Bundesliga. He had one appearance for 9 minutes against Frankfurt that is described as a disaster. He seems to be viewed as having given up the winning goal in stoppage time. From what I can tell, he committed a foul that led to a set piece from which they scored. But from watching the video the set piece only succeeded because of a poor clearance followed by poor marking, neither of which he was involved in.

All that is a way of evaluating Stuttgart's intent. They may be looking to get him some minutes somewhere in the hope he will develop further for them, but it might also be that they believe things aren't working out and are looking at this as the first step in a permanent transfer.

Stuttgart also just fired their manager a few days ago and hired a new manager the same day the Ofori loan was announced. We may have had the offer out there already, and the new manager approved it to start cleaning house a bit.

From the brief highlights I saw of Ofori he kinda reminds me of fellow countryman Mohamed abu of the Columbus crew ...except more crafty on the offensive end.

Seems good on the dribble and has a decent long shot .

Not sure he is as much a defensive figure as Herrera is .

So since MLS is totally unhelpful when it comes to roster rules, I'm going to throw something out.

NYCFC has 11 international players and only 9 international spots.

But the entire league is signing internationals at a feverish pace -- according to this website, MLS currently has more international players than international slots.

Unless the league is expanding the amount of international spots. I guess it'll be a while before we hear news on this, but does anyone else think it's possible MLS has increased the amount of international slots per team?

MLS is growing faster than the domestic player pool, and the only way for this league to accommodate the level of play is to increase the amount of international spots.

Good catch on the number of international players in the league. I know there has been speculation here that as new franchises are added, more international spots will be needed as the domestic pool won't be able to supply enough talent.

That coupled with the introduction of more TAM is definitely trending towards more and more international players in the league.

This would be good policy but $100k GAM is a lot. No way Montreal makes that trade right before the 2018 rules come out if a change is under discussion, right?

Hopefully Jack Harrison gave an international player on NYCFC his green card before he left to England. /s
Why would anyone wants one if he only plans to live in the US for a few years? Tax-wise you have to pay US tax even after one leaves the US if he holds a green card.

Oh you guys, you know you should post these ingenius thoughts on Medium.

Sure they would if they think they'll need more than one. I mean if you're getting, say, one more international slot per team, that means there are 19 available slots in MLS. That's not a lot for the teams looking for one.

Just link and credit the forums and members where it's due and I don't see the problem.
You didn't take me seriously, did you?

I actually prefer to not be credited or linked in the event I have an idea worthy of ripping off. Just quietly slip payment my way.

I knew you were being sarcastic but was tickled by the idea of you inadvertently coming up with a good idea.
