2021 Roster Discussion

if the dude didnt want to come here then not much can be done. ATL/LAFC are good are getting players as DP straight from south america, this was not the case.

Let me get this straight: The team had interest in a player who will instead be going to La Liga in Spain, and we're acting as if that's a bad thing? The team is reaching high for talent. I consider it a good thing that they're reaching for guys who have legitimate interest in the Big 5 leagues, even if they don't necessarily finish the deal. It says to me that they are aiming high for these two DP spots.

The people that say this are then also pissed when we go for the Mitrita's of the world and then say "Shouldn't we be aiming higher?"

oh i dont mind the approach. these are players you want to try and get. They in euro teams and are not getting the minutes they want. thats how the josefs giovincos were found.

EXACTLY!

I realize there's a lot of negativity around this team among all of us, but some of it is unfair. And this is yet another example.

i just edited my post. he has a twin brother who actually went higher. i think that was the guy they all were referring to no?
ooooooooo that's a thing?!?!?!?! LMAO okay that makes sense then!
Lol. Well if we didn’t get the talented one maybe we at least got the evil one.

Brother (Matt) picked in the 1st Round by Toronto. Just makes the rivalry between NYCFC and Toronto better...

To be fair, we're on a soccer forum. Negativity is expected. Any kind of sports forum.... l,ol
Exactly.

I browse a Marquette basketball forum (not nearly as active on it as I am here) and some of the guys get so upset with missing recruiting targets, especially top 50 recruits who end up choosing Blue Blood schools. And not to mention, there are only 13 scholarships to give out, so its not like they would have been able to land them all anyways.

I find that going to games and sitting in the bleachers is awesome because every game I meet new people, and they're usually pretty happy watching the team and know just enough about the players to have a good conversation. You really get to see the fanbase differently than a bunch of people on a forum that doesn't really represent the fandom the same way

Our stadium, coach, front office, and country are unattractive to attractive soccer players.

i would not go that far, id say coach is not great with his player relationships thats why they dont want to work with him again. what seems to be interesting is that it seems the FO is letting Deila give input in players to target this offseason.

id say the country travel restrictions is a potential issue for sure, tinnerholms comments reflect that. as for the FO i dont even think they even have any contact if any with him, stadium was not an issue before brining players in. they get used to it or dont mind.

lol damn, what does it tell us of Deila if a former player that he managed turned him down.

It tells us that this player would rather stay in Europe than play in a lesser league across the pond.

Again, it's a good thing the team is going after players with ambition, and it's a good thing they are aiming high. I am sure for every five rumored targets we hear about, there are another 10 we haven't heard about.
