I just want at least enough roster players to have an 11 on 11 scrimmage.
We have 21 players, with Mitri out on loan and Heber still rehabbing. So 19 players available for scrimmage?

Medina -Taty - ITS
Parks - Maxi - Sands
Gudi - Callens - Chanot - Anton
Johnson

Jasson - xx - xx
Rocha - Acevedo - Haak
xx - Gray - Ibby - xx
Barraza

Play Torres somewhere and add the Danish left back. Still two short. Is that about right? We're all so bored.

Fina-fucking-ly

“I knew Ronny before, because he was in Norway and with Celtic. I spoke with him and the way he wants to play fits my style."

"NYCFC Head Coach, Ronny Deila, said: “Malte is the type of left back we were looking for in this transfer window. He is a very good 1 v 1 defender and likes to get stuck into tackles. His work rate is incredible, and he will give everything he has for all 90 minutes. Modern full backs must be able to attack and Malte likes to get forward and provide service into the box. We’re looking forward to getting him into preseason with us. I know he’ll fight every day to make this team and himself better.”

...he said "NYFC" and then later corrects himself haha. Interesting to note that he played against us in preseason in 2016 and saw lampard, pirlo, villa, and that was a huge pull for him now too. (for all of you with the "we have no pull" factor)

Of note, by the way, is the David Lee quote:

NYCFC Sporting Director, David Lee, said: “We’re pleased to have Malte join us ahead of the 2021 season. There was a need at left back and we prioritized getting competition in at that position. For someone his age, he has already played a lot of professional matches and is entering his peak with room to further develop here in New York. As a left back, he brings a balanced set of defensive and attacking qualities that fit the style of football we want to play. Off the pitch, he possesses great character and will be a welcomed addition to our locker room. We’ll continue to add to our roster as we approach the beginning of preseason and having Malte signed is an exciting first step.”

If Gudi vs. Malte is competition at LB, when we still have a left back problem...

I'm curious if this kid is going to just slot in at the starting spot. Gudi was already bitching about not getting playing time last year and then failing miserably when he got on the field. but yea - as Lion said, if this kid vs Gudi are competing for the starting spot, we have not really improved on our LB position..

It would be more noteworthy if he said that we have half a roster and a ton of money but we do not plan to continue to add to our roster as we approach the beginning of preseason.

Well, I think it's noteworthy because it sounds like they're expecting to release the names of new signings within the next 10 days.

continuing to add could just mean one additional player. obviously that is unlikely due to our current need for players, but its entirely possible they try to make due with what we have, add one more player to start the season and then find more players to add as the season goes on. perhaps a lot of their big targets are players on teams who are still in contract/in mid season and can't leave just yet.

I was mostly just kidding, but curious what your prediction on number of officially announced signings in the next 10 days? All of my Dan Bucks and a beer of your choice in 2023 if you nail it. I do think Lion is correct that the most likely event is the other way - that we lose one - Taty - in the next few days.

Hmmm.... I have no idea. I'm inclined to go the moogoo way, but I'm gonna go on a limb and call 4 signings within the next 10 days.
Because fuck it, why not. This year's been awful soccer-wise so I might as well just throw out my craziest predictions.
