American Dps For Nycfc

I would also not be surprised if NYCFC and MCFC start to kind of unofficially partner with Bayern Munich more now moving forward. Bayern is supposedly trying to push for a larger US fan base correct? I point you to (drumroll please) JULIAN GREEN ON THE USMNT. Loaning a Bayern player to NYCFC in their first year of play? Possible. Definitely possible.

It would be interesting, but I doubt it would happen. City and Bayern absolutely detest each other:

That was also Roberto Mancini. True, relations might not be top notch, but they aren't DIRECT rivals either. I point you to one of the most intense yet little known rivalries, not just in MLS but in my opinion, all of football...

Montreal and Toronto. Having witnessed the intensity first hand, I can tell you, it's no joke.

And yet, they just completed their first ever trade not long ago. Issey Nakajima-Farran for Collen Warner. If it benefits Bayern, and City, they would likely put aside differences. ON THE COUNTER however, I could see Dortmund, Schalke, or Leverkusen pulling a loan move to NYCFC to SPITE Bayern. Less likely, but still plausible.

Oh, I don't doubt, and I'm not going to claim that this can never happen. The two clubs aren't such fierce rivals that they would never consider selling players to each other, etc. However, due to differences of opinion at board level, I just can't see a combined commercial strategy run by the two clubs. City might be up for it but I don't think Bayern would be willing to contribute to cementing City's place as one of Europe's elite.

I see, I see. Thats a good point. Didn't actually think of it that way.

Would be hard to entice a youngster like Green from Europe.. It´s not like he´s homesick or anything.

I think you mistook my point Andy. The point was not that Julian Green would be coming to NYCFC. The point was that Julian Green IMO is another way Bayern is expanding their brand into American culture

I think Bayern Munich still is very unsure/unfamiliar with the concept of going global.. For decades the Bundesliga have always been concerned about Germany only.
That said we know that Bayern Munich will open an office in NY, I´m just not sure how much they want to really as it might be that club shareholders like say Adidas are more or less pushing for a globalisation of the club.

I could see that

When was the last time a German-American guy came stateside to play? Those guys are Germans despite the fact that they are playing for the USMNT. Julian Green (or Brooks or Jones for that matter) are not coming to the US.

Jones was reportedly interested in moving to LA before he went to turkey.

So it's possible. He'd be a good destroyer in MLS. I wonder if he counts as a foreigner? ;)

No he was born in Germany, like most Afrogermanicans.

Not sure if he was born on a US base or not, but his birthplace is Frankfurt.
Born to an American citizen abroad. He wouldn't be USMNT eligible if he weren't a citizen.

He was born into 2 citizenships, like anyone else born to a serviceman abroad.
