I'm all for leaving them on the bench, maybe bring in Villa as a sub if you really need a goal, and having them both be ready to go for Atlanta

Even if they're both 100%, would much rather them be 100% and fully rested for Atlanta then play against an RSL we should have no trouble handling without them

we said that last year (leaving players out/ bench i think villa and harrison) and lost vs RSL. the difference this year is that we are not travelling to SLC

We also benched many other starters for that, not just Villa and Ring. Would like to see the full squad besides those two.

I mean, we started Okoli, Camargo, Pirlo, White, and Brillant. None of those guys besides maybe Brillant would even crack our 18 these days.

we've never beaten RSL, though

Yes. And we've improved. They have not.

We keep saying we are deeper this year then last, so let's find out.

Also, for last year's RSL game, there was a ton of changes, including the entire front 3. May have less changes for this because we aren't traveling out west, and we don't have a game for 11 days before hand

3 points is still 3 points regardless who we get them against.
But 3 points dropped by RSL are not the same as 3 dropped by ATL.

This does not mean I want to rest Villa and/or Ring. For that I'd want to know secret stuff about their fitness. I also don't like prioritizing one game over another in this way because -- though it might work -- the only guarantee is that you are playing less than your best available squad in a game that counts. But if a weird genie granted me a wish that could only be used to ensure a win over either RSL or Atlanta, I'd take Atlanta, because making them drop points is worth more.

Our “B” lineup last season.

This year it would be:

Wallace - Berget - Lewis
Maxi (unless medina/please not tummy)
Ofori sands
Sweat callens chanot tin
Seanjohn

very true, i was more trying to make the point that its not worth blowing one game to try and win another.

The game after this is much more important. At Atlanta. It's a conference opponent that will be fighting for the top two spots in the Eastern Conference. Let them rest.

Do we expect RSL to be resting starters too? They play 9:30 on Sat vs Vancouver (their conference opponent) and then fly to us for a wed night match. Maybe they need to rest as well. I’ll take our Bs vs their Bs any day.

I’ll take our A’s against their B’s to get an easy win. Take a few goal lead and make 3 immediate like-for-like subs to rest particular players. Those minutes will be important to fitness and situational timing - don’t want rusty players going in “cold” to Atlanta.
