Nycfc Training Fields Thread

This is where NYCFC is training next month right?

Yes. As you can see there's plenty of room :) It's now the home to all of the MCFC sides from the youngest age group to the first team as well as the women's sides too. I would have thought all the CFG will use it in their off seasons, would be stupid not to.

It is impossible for us to build an 80 acre training ground in New York or in the North East in the us. Maybe a 20 acre is possible.

I don't know New York at all but this was the site of an old chemical works with contaminated ground in one of the most deprived bits of Manchester. I'd imagine they're looking for similar sites, if one doesn't exist then they'll have to think again I guess.

Community involvement is important to ADUG though, they've put up a school a lesuire centre and are funding a swimming pool. The blue pitch is available to the community on evenings too. I imagine they'd really want something similar if at all possible. They've already funded 'rooftop soccer' in NY haven't they?

In the city there isn't much like that, but There are private golf course it the suburban parts the Bronx and Queens that if CFG wanted to buy up have 20-40 acres they could build the training grounds and academy

There is no Brooklyn/Long Island border. That said, there are some empty spaces in Brooklyn.

Was talking about that black line and yes there is some empty space in Brooklyn but not as much as in the Bronx and Queens. I mean hey look at the Nets they flung some.

I'm sure they have a plan in place and just have to execute. They're more than likely depending on success and the city embracing the team and the success. Which would then hopefully help them push their plan for a permanent site.
If I remember correctly they've already promised to donate the fields to the college after a few years.

Really what tells what you think about it as a possibility to it as the training grounds site.

In all honesty I wouldn't go to watch practice anyway. Floyd Bennett Field is a nice spot but getting there as you said is tough. The surrounding community wouldn't support it at all either because of the lack of roads to the site as well.

Training Ground/Center in the burbs is almost a better idea than in the city. I know most MLS guys aren't making MLB/NBA/NHL money, but all those guys live in Westchester anyway, so the Knicks/Rangers facility in Greenburgh makes a lot of sense. Maybe that's where NYCFC guys would be too? Idk.
