Out of our starting XI we are missing parks. That's it. We still have everyone else which means sands would probably step in for parks.

Sure a coach is necessary. We'll have an interim coach appointment. I'm just saying they will be ok until we get an official head coach.

And yes, I think they are mentally strong. Two defensive mistakes in one game doesn't change that. One from a player who we all know tends to do stupid things.
Well Ok then.

TBF. And I am a fan of both.

That would make a lot of sense. He needs a club to manage when filming his Apple TV+ documentary series:

If those tweets are to believed, they've been interviewing and reviewing 28 applicants. So much for that 'insider' theory, shows they're actually looking.
...Or not, and it's just a lie lmao

That would probably dispel the notion that CFG is centralizing our operations, which considering the team's success always seemed like a bit of a silly notion.

By coincidence, or not, there was this tweet earlier today:

In common with the UK-NYCFC account is the "down to 3 candidates" part. But Sanchez claims they are 3 unknowns while UKNYCFC namechecks Van Bronckhorst.

AFAIK, nobody claimed there were 3 candidates left until today, when we hear it twice, in reports that otherwise contradict each other.

Either,
  1. the same person leaked to Sanchez and UK, but said substantially different things,
  2. the same person leaked to Sanchez and UK, but Sanchez never heard of GVB (extremely unlikely),
  3. Sanchez is the person who DMd the UK account and one of them embellished by adding GVB to the mix, or
  4. somebody read Sanchez's tweet, embellished with the GVB bit, and passed it on anonymously to the UK account (while adding a reference to the Outfield article on the stadium for a stadium news angle that adds nothing to SoupInNYC SoupInNYC 's great reporting.
I think #4 is by far the most likely, and if I'm right, it means the report that there are 3 candidates and GVB is one of them is based on an unsourced rumor tweeted by a well-meaning fan, and then embellished by a Twitter rando with info relating to GVB that is in fact invented. GVB is the only name linked to us so adding his name to the "report" was an easy way to generate believable buzz and interest without actually knowing anything.

But no matter which of these scenarios is right (or some variant thereof) the report is, by admission of the person who tweeted it, based to an person unnamed even to the UK account who spoke at an unknown time. Which means that even if the anonymous unsourced report is 100% accurate (HA!), that NYCFC might have been down to 3 candidates several weeks ago, and maybe on the verge of a hire, until Arsenal started recruiting Arteta and that threw all our plans into static chaos while CFG made us wait out their priorities. Or we had 3 candidates several weeks ago and every single one rejected us. Or we had 3 candidates and Lee and Manchester can't come to an agreement as to who to hire.

No to both of these comments. If the club really has interviewed 28 candidates, it means the club has been given the proverbial finger by all of them, which would include insiders with the club. That 28 number, if true, is absolutely damning.

why? Why not the other wy around? How does this mean the club has been given the proverbial finger? It said 28 candidates reached out. NYCFC can then choose whether to hear them or not.

CFG has proven twice already they hire from within, and there’s an argument to be made that they tried to make Kreis an insider with a year-long shadowing internship before the first season. Yet if they’re looking at the outside candidates, it means any insider search has been stymied.

As to an outside search, no organization interviews 28 candidates. They will have a short list (even before the coach leaves) with maybe 1-2 reach managers they know they don’t have a chance with but use to gauge the going rate of what it takes to pull the top of the top. After that, if the team talks to too many candidates, word gets around and they loose leverage. Plus, how many of the “many” 28 actually pass the eye-test fit to be a legitimate candidate - guarantee the majority don’t, especially for a club that wants to play a very specific style, but they (the managers) are hoping to win the proverbial lottery and get hires for a position above their current standing.

For the club to not have announced yet, with the season about to open with camp, they have had zero luck with their search - nobody has agreed to what has been offered. It doesn’t mean that nobody wants the NYCFC job, just that they don’t want it under the terms being discussed and offered by CFG.
