From what I heard, he tweaked something in practice on Friday. So that may have something to do with itSay what you will, but the team wins when he plays. Mata didn’t even rate the bench this week after his shitshow last match.
Didn’t love the subs. But Wallace was necessary because you have CBA Sweat at left back. How did we feel about PV's subs?
I'd generally rather have Maxi in the middle and/or with his free-ish role than be pushed out to the wing in an attempt to have Ring, Herrera and Ofori be our midfield three. That said, maybe PV felt that Dallas was hitting the mids a little too hard and that we needed more physicality in there.
I will say, after Villa came off it was a hilarious visual treat to see Maxi "Tiny Dynamite" Moralez occupying the #9 slot.
It wasn’t deflection, you just didn’t make your case by backing up what you think was so bad. The alternative to the person you think is so bad didn’t make the bench - that is a fact.Deflection is cool. FredMertz can probably direct you to a website about it.

I think Sweat will wilt under the pressure of RBNJ.You can say what you want about Herrera. He is not a good passer and often times is too lackadaisical. HOWEVA. We are a better team with him in the lineup as displayed tonight and his absence vs Portland. He is a disruptor and his ability to draw fouls is so huge for us and he also really slows the game down whenever the other team gets the ball. He is a young player that will continue to get better. I think we forget he is only 20. If he improves his passing he will be elite in MLS.
Happy for Villa. Glad he found his form going into RB match.
Ibeagha has been so good for what we pay him. PV really knows how to get the most out of USL level players.
I want that to be our lineup against RB besides Chanot for Ibeagha. Against a team like RB, Sweat is the better option even though he continues to not do much.
What case is there to make? It’s all there on film.It wasn’t deflection, you just didn’t make your case by backing up what you think was so bad. The alternative to the person you think is so bad didn’t make the bench - that is a fact.
Haha, and you claim I deflected? Nice. What case is there to make? It’s all there on film.
He’s a hole in attack.
But you’re right that I can’t rate his defending based on such a small sample size. Of course, that ignores the fact that we lack samples because he’s pretty much never in position to make a challenge
No thanks to Sweat. God knows he tried to give up a few.Haha, and you claim I deflected? Nice.
That one goal was not Sweat’s fault. It’s a shutout otherwise.
22,115 as reported on MLSsoccer.comAnyone know what the attendance was today? I never notice if they show the attendance in the match.
The injury report was released on Friday, before the injury occurred.Wasn’t on the injured list
I think that it's because he's one of few players who hasn't progressed. If anything, he's worse than last year, yet he seems / seemed to have the tools to kick on. Combine that with comments he makes to the press that would imply that he's not completely focused on being here, and I don't think the criticism is all that surprising.I don't understand all the Herrera hate. Seems like after every game he gets thrown under the bus on here.
Maybe he's slightly more error-prone/reckless and doesn't wow anyone with finesse, but that doesn't mean he's garbage by a long shot. His defensive positioning is great and he's a ball-winning machine - led the team with 8 (!) tackles. He's generally safe with the ball and had a passing rate (78) better than Maxi this game (72).
Ofori seems like a decent player, but Herrera and Ring set the tone of the game for us. Herrera is a big part of the high pressure and high activity soul of the team.
