Matarrita Deal Finalized?

Great stuff, and we still have all that TAM.

Mmmmm... thinking about all that TAM....
Do we also have sufficient regular cap space to use it? Any TAM player costs $436,250 against the cap. I don't know either way, but the TAM money is useless (except as trade fodder) unless we also have the cap space.

S0uth American teams are notorious for announcing signings far too early.
Well, it is a good thing then that his club is from Central America, not South America ;):p
Ah yes, Central America. The world's 8th continent.

You do realize that regardless of whether you're of the 6 continents (the Americas) school or 7 continents (North and South America) that the Central American region (which includes Costa Rica) is part of the North American continent, right?

No, TAM can buy down a players cap hit as low as $150k or around that amount, I'm not checking bc I'm on my phone.

On further looking, I think we're both wrong, but you are more right than I was. I had read the rule to mean you can only take someone over budget down to budget max. But now I think The player has to be over budget, but as long as he is you can bring him as low as your TAM will cover. That can be to $0, or just to the budget max, or anywhere in between.

If it works like that you don't even need to go to $0 you just have to go low enough to get the player in the bottom salaries of the team that don't count against the cap. Even better.

Yeah I thought it was known TAM can only be applied to players making more that the max. But no, there is a limit, you can only bring a TAM player's salary down to a minimum of $150,000:

Also from this article, I didn't realize TAM now carries over. The initial $500k over 5 years from last season would expire $100k each year. The $800k extra for this year will roll over to next year if we don't spend it.

I think we will be spending all of it. After last season I think the ownership wants success.

There is a limit because we can't use on a player making over a million. If Poku emerges as a star with more playing time we might have to use it to keep him. We can also use it to resign Mix but idk when his contract his up.

I guess no one in the front office works on weekends, so maybe announcement tomorrow?
To be fair to NYCFC, it's rather common practice around here not to make any sort of announcements on weekends, because the public generally isn't paying attention Friday thru Sunday. However I still find it somewhat weird this story has exploded all over the internet (even on the official site of MLS) and nothing is to be seen anywhere on any official team outlet.

Now I'll be the first to admit I get a tad bit nit picky over the way this organization handles its social media outlets, but on the other hand (given what I already mentioned) I don't think expecting some sort of bone being thrown out to the fans ("Major announcement coming soon") is out of the question.

That's just one of their writers and it's written as 'Report' and a 'rumor.' Not an official MLS announcement story.
