Red Bulls - Postmatch

I saw a tweet with a video pointed at the away section from about mid field. It looks like a broadcast camera angle, not some guy with a phone. It showed some objects being thrown down. For the life of me I can’t find it.

Sure, Dallas and RBNY press differently, and coaching isn't just binary instructions to build from the back or boot it long. But we know how to beat Marsch's press. We did it last year with worse players playing a simpler game. Yesterday Vieira overcrowded his backfield and tried to play through the press instead of over and around it, then publicly blamed the players when his gameplan didn't work.
Sorry, I wasn't completely clear. I was comparing RBNY's press yesterday to how it has worked in the past, not to Dallas's press. It seemed they started deeper, which made it harder for us to go over the top, and then would just collapse on Villa or whoever was in the center. In the past they worked harder to block passing lanes to the midfield line.

Ofori and Ibeagha looked great. They we’re both calm with the ball and made great turns out of pressure and dribbled up the field on numerous occasions. Might see Herrera sit the next one out. Would also assume Villa or Berget sit for Shradi. Will be an interesting 11

Video, please. I checked the Spotify EDM charts for a soundtrack suggestion and it looks like Avicii tributes are in.

So, unrelated to the game played on the field, but anyone want to discuss our fans throwing beer cans from the top stand and pelting people down below? I'm really not cool with that, at all. A family member was at the game, saying they saw little kids in pain and crying after getting hit with full/semi-full beer cans thrown from the top level, and that some families with kids in the vicinity were leaving because they didn't feel safe. I wasn't there, I didn't see it, but I trust my family member to be relaying the information accurately (and there's no reason they'd make it up). So, what gives?

I am upset about the loss on the field, but can accept it and move on with my day. I'm far more upset about the above situation. I will not be part of a club or fanbase that condones or allows that.
NYCFC staff took at least one of these beer-throwers to the side and documented his info. Not sure what will be done about it, but at least they were somewhat monitoring the situation.

Well that's encouraging! Maybe a few tweets and emails would help too.

It’s the eerie repetitive sound of a record player’s needle rubbing the inside artwork sticker of a 45 and nobody takes the time to reset it.
Is the record said to be highly coveted by collectors in England?

Bobby Warshaw's Week...

Which team does this week matter more to?

Warshaw: Neither, it's just week 10.

Warshaw's Stock Up: When you beat your rival 4-0 in a derby, you can call the city yours.
Warshwa's Stock Down: Maxime Chanot.

Maxime Chanot had a bad game, but I wonder if he's put stock down on the American CBs of Red Bulls if we won 4-0 and one was pulled at halftime. Warshaw has said you need American CBs to win MLS Cup. Which is a completely idiotic.

I could only decipher three chants at RBA the entire day. 1) Hey Baby 2) Fuck the Red Bulls 3) Fuck these T-Shirts.

Apparently RB fans sang take me out to the ballgame. Couldn't make it out.

Hey, remember late in the first half when Sweat got pinned into his corner, executed a nice Cruyff turn to escape and then passed the ball to no-one and watched it roll out of bounds? Pretty much a summary of this match.

I can't do too much in the way of analysis as I was sitting immediately behind the goal on the Away support side, and frankly I don't quite know how to watch a game from that perspective (though it was wild seeing a match from the keeper's POV... too bad that included seeing SJ concede three times).

That said, what annoys me the most is that all of us know how NJ is going to play. If you look at the pre-match thread, we all said "we're going to be pressed hard, and be vulnerable to counters". And that was the case. Yet somehow our team looked totally shocked that NJ played the way they always play, like they were utterly unprepared. Totally gross, and really disappointing.

It sucks that the three teams below us have two games in hand apiece. It really does. But the sky has not fallen yet. This is only our second loss of the season, despite being an embarrassing one. We can rally.

ETA: our away support throwing the dumb free t-shirts onto the pitch was not a good look.

Fuck the T-Shirts and throwing the shirts onto the pitch all came late right? I wouldn't know because I packed it in and left super early. Bad fan? I say smart fan. I didn't sit in that god forsaken lot or much traffic on GWB.

Anyway, losing 3-0 or 4-0 and then throwing anything on the field is stupid. Makes us look like sore loser children. HOWEVA, throwing the t-shirts before the game started during the massive Fuck the Red Bulls chant when we owned the building was hilarious and well-deserved by those idiots for putting t-shirts on the seats instead of handing them out at the gates. Do they not realized we bring well over 1,000 people, not just the 500 supporter seats?

Yeah, I was in the Supporters Section, and in the second half is when the t-shirts starting getting launched down below and onto the field followed by cheers when they made it onto the pitch and the "Fuck your t-shirts" chant. I didn't see any beers get launched down below, but it honestly wouldn't surprise me if that was happening.

I'm usually pretty stubborn in that I will not leave a match I'm attending (for any of my teams) until it's over, no matter how the game is turning out. But I could not stand to be in the Supporters Section Saturday as we were behaving that way, so peaced out with around 10 minutes to go.

As we finally made our way down the stairs, there were some young Red Bulls staff handing out these summer camp card things and some dickhead slapped a whole stack of them out of this guys' hands. Me and my buddy approached him and yelled at him to stopping being such a fuckup to which his response was "Wanna take this outside", to which he did not follow through with.

my takes:

stupid idea on having shirts on every seat. no matter what it they were going to be thrown down from any nycfc supporter in almost any section. I was not even in supporters and they were being thrown around me. this happened even during warmups and kickoff. scuffles happened for sure parts of game.

train ride home was calm....expected more chanting etc

on for the game: did PV put everyone under the bus? i mean my thing is that team has shown before that in important games ( playoffs) they have no intensity like they are just there and saturday felt like one of those games. does PV not rile them up ? like it almost felt they were mentally in pre season mode. terrible passes and anticipations etc. i feel like PV has to make it a point to go out and win this. Felt like the first leg vs columbus.

this is an important point now....if he makes big changes like stripping villa of captain band ( i doubt it) or completely change lineup and keep losing etc....he loses the locker room and its over.

I'd personally take the band from him and give it to Ring. Things change and rearrange.
This is likely Villa’s last year so there will be a new captain in 2019. Big question is what would this do to the player (Villa) and the locker room??? Would it piss Villa off so much that he goes into a pouting funk, or would it free him of the burden? Would the locker room be split with some angry about the change or would they galvanize around the likely 2019 captain that’s being tapped up early? If nothing is done, is there a faction in the locker room that doesn’t see Villa as always leading, and becomes less cohesive because of a lack of action by PV?

Lots of issues for PV to think about. I don’t think PV will make a change - whether right or wrong - but whatever decision is made, it better address the fracturing of the club we saw on Saturday, which didn’t seem like a new phenomenon but rather emotions that have been previously engaged/ongoing while not on public display.

eventually perhaps yes ( or chanot)....but thats the tricky part...you do this now, after result like this then i feel it will send wrong message to those players with villa thru and thru and may break locker room and whole year is ruined ( any maybe PV out as well if results are bad).

as someone else said in twitter....that would be very Kreis like to do this now.
